I have this transmission in my 2019 RDX, it seems very common to have rough shifts in the first few minutes of driving that go away after it has warmed up, sometimes even stumbling to change gears from either 1-2 or 2-3 when you are applying light throttle when the car is just started. What would cause that with this transmission, it appears to be rather common between many of the 2019 Acura RDX's

This is a new design for Honda and Acura. I have personally road tested a 2019 Honda Odyssey but this experience would not be the same as actually owning the vehicle and driving it every day. Recently manufacturers have been addressing transmission shift feel and shift quality with a software update to the control system. Discussing this problem with your local Acura Dealer may be the best solution for now while the unit is still under warranty.

SavagexRaccoon I’m in the last years I of my 2009 Honda Odyssey with 5 speed transmission. It runs great 👍 but the rear rust in tire well (common issue) seems to be flaring up. The 5 speed was always a bit ruff meaning feeling the shifts for the first few gears and then smooth as silk after. (130k miles 250 km) I was never effected by the tranny issue this model had but looking to jump into a 2020 in the next few years. Waiting to see what people say, if it’s still sucks I might make the jump to Toyota. It’s been a great engine since the start. Hopping you and everyone else with the new 10 speed have no issues,

Is there a way you can show the operation of the neutral shaft? A lot of cars are losing their batteries due to parasitic battery drain and cannot move the vehicles without battery power. Inside the engine bay I know the neutral shaft is under the battery/case area. How much does it turn and what direction CW/CCW?
@ThompsonAutoTest4 жыл бұрын
Yes, Honda includes a external shaft that allows a tow truck operator to manually take the transmission out of park. Access is through the left wheel well, as far as CW/CCW the tow truck operator can gently try one direction then the other. twitter.com/KathyatChrysler/status/838832158542299136

I was able to pull a code “PO7DC Stuck in two way clutch”. Would you be able to tell me what actuates the two way clutch? Does the transmission need to come out for a repair or can it be fixed while in the vehicle? Any help is greatly appreciated.
@ThompsonAutoTest2 жыл бұрын
There is very little that can be done with the transmission in the vehicle. The two way clutch is actuated by the piston that is part of the valve body and it moves the lever of the two way clutch. It’s possible that the two way clutch is damaged and the lever won’t move. Inspect the fluid level and condition and look for excessive metal in the fluid.

(limited slip differential) lsd. The Honda 10AT does not use a lsd, however the anti-lock brake system can be used to insure that a driven wheel does not spin free but the system can apply the brake on the wheel without traction to divert torque to the the wheel with traction and act as a type of (limited slip differential) lsd. This is the logic behind BMW X-Drive and Mercedes 4-Matic. Presently the Honda 10AT is a front wheel drive unit only, we will have to see what Honda does in the future.

You have to remove the transmission to replace the filter, but they last a really long time with proper maintenance. I have an 03 Civic with an internal filter 218,000 miles still going fine on the 4 speed auto. These have much bigger filters and use a better synthetic fluid. If you have one or buy one, change the fluid every 30k with Genuine Honda ATF DW1 and it will last easily 250k.

I’m selling my 2018 Accord 2.0t Touring because this 10-speed transmission is terrible and Honda refuses to do anything to fix it. I’ve got over 14,000 miles on it and it’s still just as rough as it was on day 1. The biggest complaint I have is the 2-3, 3-4, 4-5 up shifts and downshifts from 4-3, 3-2. It also downshifts roughly when going up even the slightest inclines from 10-8 and that causes a shock to be felt throughout the car. I also experience the torque converter unlocking when turning and accelerating or when giving it a bit of throttle while cruising to speed up. All of a sudden the engine starts to rev up while you make nearly no forward progress. It’s just weird. They have released no software updates to address shifting and after 4 trips to the dealership and being told “They all shift rough”, I’m tired of it. I’m ditching ICE vehicles completely going forward and have ordered a Tesla Model 3 Performance to replace the Accord. I just don’t find rough shifting transmissions acceptable in brand new cars.

It's doing its job, you should get a positive engagement into the next gear. It's a sport oriented transmission same with their 5 speed automatic. They are built like that, nothing wrong with it. Cars that shift seemlessly shed clutch material and don't last as long because of that.

I drive a 2018 Accord EX-L 2.0T w/ 10spd AT and I find it an excellent transmission. I came from a 2010 Altima CVT. My early impression was it was very "busy" 10 gears vs CVT seemed like a lot going on. As I've driven more and read about it, this transmission delivers on everything. I hardly notice I'm travelling through 7-10 gears (maxes at 7th gear in city driving) Shifts fast as lightning in Sport mode. Shifts nice and smooth in Normal/Economy modes (will shift pretty smooth in Sport if you don't get on the gas) It is designed to hold your gear around corners which if you are an enthusiast you realize is very helpful vs shifting to a higher gear like most trannys. Most Honda 10spds have smoothed out after the first few thousand miles if they were rough from the factory. It's called break in. F C may just not like the way Honda programmed things in the Accord 10spd. I've never driven with it in the Odyssey minivan but the RDX has the same engine as my Accord so the experience is likely nearly identical (RDX is dragging more weight though and can have SH-AWD)
