I saw these guys in 85, fucking brilliant stage show and soulful music, so impressed by Tom Bailey and Alannah Curry

I caught them that year as well. It was absolutely one of the best concerts ever put to stage! They were able to reproduce every sound you hear in these songs. Something I thought they would never be able to accomplish… yet, they did! And it was magnificent to see, hear and experience!

The best thing about Thompson Twins songs is the lyrics, they just take a bunch of standard colloquialisms and slang and voila.. a song.

another song about & against drugs, was a important social message for the young audience

Come lay your head down on the stone So cool and white and welcome home Oh Lose your troubles Ease your pain Soothe your soul in golden rain Blue marble seas - I will make you feel so good - roll over me Blue marble dreams - I like you always knew you would roll over me Don't mess with Doctor Dream Don't mess with Doctor Dream He's not one for sympathy Don't mess with Doctor Dream Don't mess with Doctor Dream He will bring you to your knees

This may be both musically and lyrically the worst song of the Eighties. Nothing about it works, from the meaningless image pastiche to the grunty scatting to the vacuous lyrics and the heavy-handed sermonising. The TTs had some real high spots, like You Take Me Up, but this is a downer, no don't-do-drugs pun intended.

I love this song but funnily enough I do totally get what you're saying. It doesn't work- the video or the song. Russians by Sting was another one of those all-wrong type of songs. What I wanted to ask you is; what exactly do you mean when you refer to 'The meaningless image pastiche'? I would love for you to elaborate. Thanks alot I enjoyed your comment.
