"Thoomani Maadathu" - Episode 1 of "Sessions from The Space". Sessions from The Space is a series of up close and personal renditions from Agam as we embark on a journey in search of the rich and varied musical and linguistic heritage of South India through the medium of Carnatic Music.
Based on the 9th Paasuram of Thiruppavai by Shri Aandal (7th Century CE ) composed by Shri. Ariyakkudi Ramanuja Iyengar (1890 - 1967 ) in raaga Hamir Kalyani, set to Aadi taalam ( 16 beat cycle )

@@qkbarbland4332 She did sing these songs, while singing the glories of Narayana in her temple town. However, unfortunately those tunes have not been preserved in the oral tradition in later years. What you are saying is indeed true, the poems were later set to tunes by different musicians over the years. The ones which are popular today were largely set to tune by the legendary musician, 'Ariyakkudi' Ramanuja Iyengar.

Got a lifetime opportunity to meet these amazing people 3 months ago. Probably the best fan moment of my life. Whatever may be the raag, right from Shudha dhanyasi to aahiri to now hamir kalyani, their songs create an envelope of interest in me, to explore those raagas further, thanks to the beautiful rendition and architecture of the sounds.
