I think the player breaks affect the tier 1 teams simply by breaking their momentum. Especially pre covid where the travel and tournament schedule was so packed that it was almost a lan every week or 2.

During covid might of been worse tbh. They didn't have to travel as much (or at all) but they were playing more tournaments, tournaments had less value so people stop caring as much. And people are stuck in their house with limited human interaction.

Man, I had got into the scene around 2016 and it was so tiring watch NA teams come so close but no cigar. Having this 2019 Liquid was such a wild time and I would love to see where the NA scene would be had covid never happened. Feel like way more guys who switched to Valorant wouldnt have felt forced to make the move.
