I think the sentient thing could have worked well, if it had been discovered it's sentience was connected to Thors conciousness not Odin the whole time for worthiness. Would have explained why it moved for Cap in AOU then cap finally picked it up in Endgame as Thor was in awe of Caps bravery. NZ’s liberal media lap up every sentence he says and treats it as gospel. He’s constantly whining about race relations, racism and the kitchen sink, and about how hard it is for ‘people of colour’ (whatever that means) to make films and find success in the industry. He should open his eyes. Taika’s approach to THIS film was to sit in a room with Hemsworth, write down literally every idea they had, and then make it happen, which shows how his ego now greatly overshadows his once-nuanced, creative directive style that many loved to see. Not always. Ever heard of Ugandan movie 'Who Killed Captain Alex?' See, the film was made on very low budget, poor equipment, and utterly ridiculous writing and acting. But guess what? It is damn entertaining. The filmmakers knew what they were doing, but they clearly pour their hearts and souls into it. They gave it all. They knew the film is gonna be dumb, so they pulled no punch and went ball to the wall in order to make a film. Then they became sort of aliens with abilities other Asgardians and Frost Giants lacked. Eventually they started to be called gods again, with drawing strength from their people. But they were still aliens, and their powers being explicitly magic... Then we also got Egyptian gods, magical and otherworldly, and looking different from each other, so they aren't some alien species... Then we got greek/roman gods, but at least two of them are actually Earth-bound Eternals... So what ARE gods? What makes a being qualify as a god? Thanos apparently isn't one, despite being able to kill gods easily. Is Captain Marvel a goddess? Is Valkyrie? If so, was their force an entire army of goddesses? Where did Gorr and Necrosword draw the lines? Literally nothing of this is explained.

The ending with all the kids getting superpowers and fighting really gave me the vibe that the movie was completely made for children, but then the whole topic of cancer/terminal illness’s effect on love and wellbeing is way too heavy for kids. So we ended up with something that was neither, and often felt like two entirely different narratives crashing into eachother, resulting in an overall mess.

I actually went and saw this movie as a "casual" fan (I don't really keep up with marvel all that much but i did watch ragnarok) and I thought it was hilarious. Gorr was definitely underused. The movie had lots of potential, as Gorr could be pretty similar to Kratos slaying Gods. Yet, they chose to make it an half-assed comedy, without even trying to balance the lightheartedness of Thor, with Gorr's darkness, making a very interesting dynamic. I don't think anyone would complain if they remade the whole movie, even if the end is the exact same, to not impact the MCU too much, while the movie becomes way more epic.

The director gets to film very few scenes in anything disney. look at literally anything else hes made and theyve all been fantastic including ragnarok. Why? because he had control and could do what he wanted instead of disney suits over his shoulder telling him how to do everything.

Okay okay, I saw this movie with my dad, and he's this old stoic, deep voiced, serious guy and I thought he was gonna hate it but it's tradition that we see superhero movies together. He ended up laughing at all of the dumb jokes so hard, and I couldn't not find it infectious. Now that I've moved out and becoming an adult, I don't get to do a lot of stuff with my dad anymore so it was a nice way to cap off a weekend at home during the summer. I know it's flawed heavily, but this movie is now attached to a really heartwarming, nostalgic part of my brain. Sorry guys, it's bad, but I love it

I get it. I feel like, if someone has never really been invested in the MCU, or maybe they haven't seen much of Thor -- basically, just a casual viewer -- they may actually be able to like this. Most of us who have a problem with Thor:L&T are either casuals who don't vibe with the humor in general, or fans who feel like it is a betrayal to all the character's potential and however well he had been previously established, and we feel that way because we *know* how it's such a betrayal and a waste, in the first place.
