A post Ragnarok Thor with Mjolnir and Stormbreaker should have posed a mortal threat to Thanos. I guess it might make sense that he didn't have a proper fight in him, due to his mindset and physical shape at the time. But still... I'd say they nerfed him more than what made sense in Endgame.
