Loki in my opinion is one of the best characters in the MCU. My favorite has yet to come.

The average asgardians citizen strength level is 10 times a normal person's strength. Asgardian warriors are 100 times a normal person's strength level. Then there are the elite like Thor friends the warriors 3 and the Lady Sif who are able to lift up 30 to 50 tons. Of course there are exceptions to the Norm of the asgardians power scaling for example Loki who physically is not near Thor strength but because of his telekinesis powers he's about to rival Thor's physical capabilities.

Odin use the tesseract to fix the Bifrost because Odin created by bifrost using the tesseract. Odin or Heimdall was able to send Thor off Asgard during the events of the avengers movie using dark magic but it was a one-way trip which is why he needed for to retrieve the tesseract to return. As for Odin sounding crazy and foolish don't forget Odin isn't a good guy. He's a tyrant who chose to be a malevolent King. Dr. Eric Selvik almost went crazy from the visions Loki scepter showed him after mind controlling him. The reason Hawkeye the next time you see him walked away relatively fine because of previous mental torture from his past. There are a few alien creatures that thrive within darkness. Like the dark elf which become stronger within their element similar to the way Superman gets stronger after being exposed to the yellow sun.
