While fighting, Thor sees his ex-hammer flying and killing monsters, he tries to call him but instead his hammer "Mjolnir" goes to another perosn dresses as Thor. He goes and asks the person that who he/she is..and gets shocked after knowing that its Jane Foster, his ex. When he was trying to process all this, Gorr suddenly attacks him and then happens their first meeting with each other.

Fr though. Gorr was working well as an actually scary character. Even in the moments he shows a "goofy" side, he's more intimidating. A Gorr movie where he's literally just hunting down gods one after another, set in the PoV of his targets would probably work well as a Horror. And then, have it so Thor is constantly one step behind to save Gorr's victims. It would've been a great way to set Gorr as a horrifying villain, while setting Thor's character straight, and finally write off this Goofy Thor out of MCU.

The way Gorr's entry was shot initially is pretty damn intimidating. Reminds me of Death's appearance in Puss in Boots 2, I definitely liked that horror element. Would've been fascinating to see Thor confronted with Gorr as a thematic representation of inevitable Death that he has to take seriously, would've meshed nicely with Jane Foster's terminal illness.

If this scene would have been 100% serious and not all the bad comedic relief... Gorr: Then you'll know this is going to hurt Thor: you know nothing of pain Gorr: show me *touches Thor's neck* The painful flashbacks of losing his father, mother, loki, Jane, heimdal etc. Screams with pain, through clinched teeth and anger... Bloody Tears pool in the corners of his eyes* Then and only then, does Gorr get blindsided by an off screen hit, Thor collapses to all fours, and both take separate glances over from the direction the attack came, to see Jane catch mjolnir... They battle, Jane's clear lack of experience is no match for Gorr, when Jane is in absolute peril, Thor goes into an absolute berserker rage, seeing the near death of Jane, red arcs of lightening... Not upset because Gorr "touched his things" it's about love and thunder... At that moment Thor becomes the most powerful being in all of the MCU due to his love for Jane and the rage from fear of losing her after losing so many he has loved... He solos Gorr momentarily blood lusted, even potentially getting cut with the necrosword, as he pushes stormbreaker down against Gorr's neck. Gorr disappears, Thor confused, collapses, then awakens sometime later with Jane staring down at him, as he looks up at her. That's a fucking scene you morons at Disney... Could be done in the same two freaking minutes this trash was.

The problem was that Taika tried to tell both the Jane cancer storyline and the god butcher storyline in one movie. You can’t do a romcom and a father’s revenge quest in the same film and expect it to work. The tonal shifts are too jarring. It ultimately does neither story justice. Honestly Taika should’ve just made Love and Thunder the Jane cancer storyline only and had Mangog be the villain and then save Gorr for Thor 5 with a different director

We both felt that the cancer story being crammed in, and sometimes used for laughs, was crass and in incredibly bad taste. Whilst Gorr was completely wasted and underused for a villain that many people were hugely excited for. Taikas brand of comedy can really work in some scenarios, but his whole "let's undercut everything by saying it's all stupid and meaningless" whilst the studio gave him free reign was a recipe for disaster. It's a mess of a film, and on occasions it made me deeply uncomfortable
