I was diagnosed with this and it’s mostly solved now. It sucks. Let me save you 5 years: Diligently go to physical therapy. I go twice a week. Laser, ultrasound, electrostim, and rowing. They also do a chiropractic-style adjustment. Get a massage between the appointments. If you are not feeling better a 1-2 months after starting physical therapy, simply find a new therapist. Continue seeing your doctor every few months (schedule in advance) and discuss any changes you feel. Good luck. 👍🏻

Just got diagnosed with TOS 2 days ago, luckily no nerve damage but arterial function diminishes in certain positions so they want to do surgery on it. Ontop of that, during their testing to diagnose and rule out other problems, they found i have mild carpal tunnel in both wrists 😐, so after two hip surgeries (osteocondroma at 20, labrum repair at 28 on the same hip), a hip replacement due in about 10 years (for the same hip as before), the surgery for TOS and future surgery for the carpal tunnel issues got me feeling like I should be in a retirement home at 29... not how I wanted life to go but hey at least getting through it will be a good lesson for my son, that if dad can make it through all this crap that he can make it too and to motivate him to go for his dreams.

Sorry about that! Love how you are looking to motivate your son in all this, staying positive is great for healing.
@shadowof1155Ай бұрын
@HartfordHealthCare2023 i plan on using it as a positive influence for my son by showing him that no matter what tries to bring you down to not give up and keep pushing through so in hopes that one day, he will be able to get past his own road blocks in life so he can chase his dreams into reality. Plus I want him to see the realistic side showing that life doesn't always go how you want or planned as I obviously didn't plan on or want to have surgery to remove a bone tumor or have to have it replaced at such a young age but that I won't let it bring me down or keep me from loving him and hopefully through the years it will help him be a better man than I have been.

@@technologyisadeadbird9669 I only just received this notification today, sorry for the late reply, I was diagnosed with theratic outlet syndrome back in 08. Said I would need surgery to relive the pressure on the nerve by removing the first rib on my left side, well after I've had the surgery I was told that they just went in and removed muscle around the area and cut bands to loosen up the compression on the nerves. Months of pain after I was referred to another surgeon and he decided to go in and remove the rib the first surgeon didn't do, woke up still have the rib because the surgeon said I had so much scar tissue from the last surgery he had to repair it before he could get the rib out, fist surgery was thru my neck, second one was across my upper left chest.. had to come back in 2 months and then had the rib removed from under my left armpit. I've had so much trama from the scar tissue and it's much worse then it was before all this, they said wasn't nothing much else they can do and just referred me to a pain clinic , which is even more of a waste of time. Hopefully you will have better results then I have had

Before going to surgery try physical therapy, but run away from "doctors" who propose stretching or massages (it's a good indicator to see the level of competence/education). What you need to release the tension is the strengthen the specific muscles, eg. both scallenes (it's often a large combinaison, target all miucles of the torso and neck, it takes a lot of time and effort). Look for msk physio

Richard Forsting The most problem is not where is attached muscle, but in fact this surgery changes the structure of shoulder. There is written in wiki that "Clavicle directly above the first rib, it acts as a strut to keep the scapula in place so that the arm can hang freely". Shoulder can hang freely because clavicle is based on the two points. If you take off one point (the first rib) what happens with your shoulder structure. It is destroyed and your shoulder will be hanged onto your neck with muscles. It means you will always have tension on your neck. It is simply mechanics, but doctors don't know it. They know only physiology, but it is not enough. I think these surgeries are totally mistake.
@ainars12054 жыл бұрын
I have no recommendations. I know only one, if I could turn time back, I would never agree with this surgery. I have two shoulders: one without surgery, but another with. I can see and feel differencies.
