It's time to start pushing back on the current standard of living....I see people hammering their dopamine far too often and just getting oversaturated with the addiction of being "in touch". Maybe it's time to start mitigating how much more we fully embrace. Is there a point where we start venturing into waters that are too deep? A point where we need to allow more technology to mainly shift into mainly medicine and energy? But not more tech with how we interface with the world? I don't know. But I think, bare minimum, more of us need to be asking the questions.....

All very true. I'm in the UK and gave up my TV licence about 15 years ago and also stopped buying newspapers and magazines. It's so freeing. Massively agree with the food preparation too, it slides when my mental health isn't great but that's when it's needed the most and I try as soon as possible to make something, even a soup, it's soothing to make something from scratch. Tech boundaries are important but I think boundaries in general regards to your time and how people treat you are SO important. I don't feel this is cult like, just good, stripped back advice xxx

@@jimmylarge1148no owning a TV in the UK its more like owning a car in the USA where in order to use it legally you pay the government for the license (UK) / registration (USA) to operate it. Most over there treat it like an utility bill, while there's a way to opt out (what the op did) but they may need to prove they don't own a TV as the government there has people that do home checks and hand out fines if you own a TV enjoying the available signal but don't have a license for it. This is just my best understanding of it.

My exception is that as a husband and father of six, I believe it is absolutely my responsibility to stay up on current events so I can prepare my family for what is coming and do my best to keep them protected. That said, I've found news sources worth following over the last 23 years and that's what I follow. None of them are the legacy MSM outlets. I have a request for a video...do one on rehafting an axe. I don’t know, I grew up in a blue collar family of mechanics in Colorado and my parents are hippies who wanted to live off grid as park rangers. We camped and fished and I was taught to use every tool and to be outside working and to love it. I raised my kids climbing trees and gardening and using pocket knives, fishing, building fires, helping out on friends’ farms, catching snakes. Making all food from scratch. It only occurred to me as I’ve had to live (hopefully briefly) in the suburbs that the way I love to live that was just normal to me as a kid is somehow weird. As a trainer I get people moving around like real natural humans and it’s like they don’t know how to operate their own bodies in an organic way. All my neighbors have small yards and hire lawn services to mow them. I’m a single mom and my lot is like a third of an acre and I maintain it by myself, cutting and trimming trees, and yes, splitting wood to burn by hand. It’s the only way I know how to be. But I wouldn’t want it any other way. I can’t wait to build my own small house up in the mountains one day!

Hey Thornton, my granddad only used a woodstove to heat his home, his whole life, no backup gas or electric heaters. He hand split every stick of wood that went into that stove till he was 91, when he had a stoke, he passed at 92. He was a beast as an old man, strong as an ox. My granddad was stronger in his late 80's than most young men in this generation are in their 20's. Anyhow, good on you for showing this to the world.

Bro, I 100% understand what you're saying about the meals being prepped at home. And you are absolutely right about the parent thing. I'm one of the people that say that, I don't buy fast food. But I do buy the bullshit like frozen pizzas and stuff like that. I want to do better, I have a couple issues to where I'm a single dad. Paycheck to paycheck. Paying the bills just to keep up. I literally have barely any time after I pick them up from school. Because I'm doing homework and laundry and housekeeping, keeping the yard up. Just so many things that's just a few. I don't know what else to do. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Maybe you know something that I don't or maybe you see something that I don't. I'm not just writing this to disagree, I'm writing this for help, advice, and hopes that maybe somebody can shoot me some ideas. It sucks because I'm telling myself that my body and my nourishment is extremely important. But I find it that I'm seeing from the outside in and I just struggled to do anything about it. I'm constantly on my feet, constantly on the go. I definitely exercise every day. I have no choice. But just wanted to say thank you for making this video because it's actually getting me a little more motivated to try to figure something else out.

On the news portion, I think it’s important to take the news with a grain of salt. Our news corporations collude with the government and change the rhetoric we consume to lean more pro- establishment. I’m a leftist, and the news I consume is more independent journalism, however, I enjoy following politics. Not to say I am better than others, but there are many out there that fall for the fear mongering, and let it dictate their lives. Get outside, ground yourself and meditate. It’s important to stay positive and focus on yourself and how your actions can make a positive influence on others. I appreciate your wisdom and viewpoints, you seem to almost take a spiritual approach to life, and that’s really great to see! Thank you for all that you do 😊

Hey Thoren! I'm new to your channel having only just found you, but really love what you do. I live by very similar principals. 90% of my food is prepared and cooked by me at home. It's the only way for me to ensure I'm not eating crap. I'm a hand tool carpenter by trade. I do use the occasional power tool as it's difficult to compete without them, but many of my clients like my traditional approach. News isn't news. Its propaganda and fear-mongering. I find that the best approach is to try to tend the garden that you can touch. I'm a keen cyclist, both mountain and road biking. That is my exercise. I'm 63 and still going strong with excellent health and mobility. I resonate so much with your philosophy on life. I'm very much looking forward to watching much more of your content. Brother you couldn’t have said it better about machines/corporations and the impact they have on our lives. People are getting too comfortable which creates laziness which then creates diseases and sickness. People need to get out in the heat and work their body’s and move and acclimate their body’s. Keep your videos coming brother.

Enjoy your videos and appreciate you sharing your knowledge. I would love to hear what you have to say about maintaining a healthy routine for someone (such as myself), who lives on the road going from job to job and something I would like to learn from you is a nice solid workout routine when living in hotels throughout the year as I do.

@@ThorenBradley oh that would be awesome. My profession is very physically demanding and I’ve been wanting to find a well rounded way to build on my strength and do it in a healthy manner, it’s very difficult to successfully do this without having the knowledge from someone such as yourself. Keep the videos coming and I’ll be patiently impatient, waiting for your thoughts. Thank you!

I more or less live like this with out even think about it! I have been working in a big hardware store for over 8 years and its still surprise me how little people know about basic things. I have i drive in me to know practical things and i still use knowledge i got when i was a small kid and hanged with my parents looking on when they fixed the car, house, windows and so on...

I make my kids do 10 push ups every night. They are in 3rd grade, 5th grade and 6th grade. We started them 4 months ago. My 6 grader could barely do 2 when we started. BUt now we're doing 10 together and i'll say " 3 more! Mamba mentality boys!" They used to complain about the extra ones. Now the two oldest compete to see who can do more. My daughter the 3rd grader obviously cant do 10 or more regular pushups. But she does them on her knees and that works for me. We'll do situps some days or squats during sports seasons. Just trying to show them that it doesnt take a lot to do it and they like looking back to see how many they did total for the week. What crazy is the baseball started 2 weeks ago and they are throwing harder and swinging the bat much faster.

It’s been said that Thorean was cursed by a witch as a young lad and ever since he just can’t stop chopping wood. He has no use for it, never burns it, just chops, chops, chops away until the end of his days. But in all seriousness, it’s cool that he does yoga. Makes sense. Life is a walking meditation. Or in his case, chopping wood is a form of meditation. I wonder though, do you hunt and fish? Basically living off grid? I’ve always wanted that. It’s not easy like people think, it’s not some hippy existence. It’s work. Constant work.

OMG Yes on everything!!! I agree so much with each thing said and I honestly feel better knowing I am not alone on these thoughts. I chose these ways to heal myself from trauma, abuses, illnesses and it's been a work in progress. But as my elderly parents are here for the winter months into spring with me, I see the reality of the exact opposite in their lives especially my mom. She doesn't move, would watch the news 24/7 on TV and tablets which she is on constantly and her health has declined so much. Thank you for this. This was the continued extra push I needed in my life to keep going this route and up my game so to speak. I appreciate your knowledge and wisdom in all of these things. Hey, and now I know to rinse my rice and feed my plants the rice water!!😉

I've also lost 253 pounds and am still working on that. About 75 more to go. Lower carb, no sugar, no processed or refined food. I've gone a very holistic route and some days are difficult with my MS, but it's under control and without medication!

My car broke down a month ago and i lost my job because of it. I fell into a depressing slump and started sleeping excessively. Which felt great for about a week. Then all of the sudden i couldnt sleep anymore. I tried but would be awake for a few days at a time. I even gained 10 lbs laying around. The reason why is because i wasnt following ANY routine and wasnt getting ANY physical activity. It really woke my ass up. I am still looking for work but i am running the length of my road and back everyday and waking up in the morning and staying awake all day. My sleep pattern has returned to normal and im feeling great. Routine and exercise is everything.

Tech is important but not always the focus. Personally I like reading books... the real paper ones.... I find i can really enjoy reading without the notification interruptions, its easier on the eyes, and I will always choose a porch swinging and the sound of birds over my headphones when I read 😊

I am an artist and I try to draw as much as I can. I draw with pencil and paper. I like to actually create something physical. I don't exercise as much as i should. I have been making more of my own food instead of just going out to eat. Im not a great cook but i can cook a few things. I dont even watch the news anymore, and have been considering subscribing to the local newspaper. Ive also been starting to read more books and magazines, for downtime. I like the feeling of reading something on paper vs a screen. I am in the middle of reading a special Superman "85th anniversary" magazine.

It sure does. The human body is made to be physically active if we automate everything that makes for a very depressing life. I even bought an abacus so that it would force my mind to calculate numbers better.
