TP16 tonearm is maybe cheap but it is not that bad at all. On some respective forums expirienced owners told that they preplace it with SME 3009 but they didn't made such good progress with it. Then they back on TP16 and overall conclusion is there is not much difference in term of audio qulity improvment. The much depends on corect adjustment of every aspect and then you have very good turntable in novadays.

yes the Numark TTX turntable is a very nice looking turntable and I love the blue lights it has and it has a digital speed meter display so you can set it exactly on the speed you want for 33 45 or whatever...I got really lucky with that purchase it only cost me $60 dollars and it came with a nice shure stylist and needle sounds good but of course there's always better...

The headshell is NOT an Ortofon, the cartridge is an Ortofon, the headshell is the Thorens integral with the TP16 arm...and why on earth were you tugging away at the inner platter with the main one still on it - the inner platter often has a transit claw which prevents it being lifted which can be removed from the underside by loosening the screw that also secures the earth wire....always put the earth wire with the retaining screw back after taking off the claw. The Thorens TD160 Mk 2 is one of the classic turntables, I've owned mine since 1976, although I use it with the SME 3009 2 Improved. Your review doesn't do it justice I'm afraid.

What a load of bollocks you said ..TD 160 Mk 11 is One of the best turntables ever designed ..so many makers copied the design but few match it..Cheap built carcass perhaps but the sound from is is superb

I spin a lot of albums so I have a Numark TTX 1 it's like a Dj turntable it's very durable though cuz I need that cuz I spin albums everyday and I really like the sound of a nice pristine album witch most of mine are idk if you noticed a difference in the 80g or a 180g album but I think I prefer the old 80g sound idk Andrew give it a try listen to an 80g and then a 180g tell me what you think I've switch back and forth and I think the older 80g album sounds a little better! Andrew another nice vintage buy I really like your enthusiasm with vintage stereo equipment!! hope all is well I watch all your KZbin videos you do great work

A lot of the old belt drive Thorens have have a slow spin-up which might be a minus for a DJ.

Der Ubersau, The slow spinup is no problem in home use. Our matched pair of TD160 mkII (bought new when records were commonly considered obsolescent) have motors with slip clutches. The spin up is thus slow but pleasingly smoother than the old AR-XA these replaced. These particular Thorens arms with their magnetic bias, ultra low friction and tiny moving mass are leagues ahead of nearly everything I see commonly available today. Setup was a bit fussy, but easy enough with the included gauge/storage boxes.
