Hi there, I can see you’ve left the extra rider weight on… was it difficult to balance? Did you simply balance the tone arm with both rider weights on?

What model stylus do you use for that? I just got an AR with the SME 3009 tonearm and need a replacement stylus.

In the early seventies this arm/table combo was pretty much everyone's reference standard until Ariston and Linn came on the scene. In retrospect I doubt anyone could hear much difference between them as the designs of all three tables were so similar. One thing is for sure, they blew away the Japanese direct drive competition for extracting information out of record grooves.

Personally I prefer the look of the old thorens, not too mention I often see old Linns with broken tonearms and such and hardly ever see a broken sme or thorens. Personally I believe the thorens and sme are the better option even still

My I will put my forty year old Technics SL-110 direct drive turntable and SME3009 tonearm against any belt driven modern turntable and, using the same cartridge and record, would defy anyone to tell the difference in a blindfold test.

@@brucetaylor5917 yep, it is mostly about the tonearm and cart, the turntable is just there to be quiet and keep the record turning at the right speed.

The SME 3009 play ended, the tonearm will lift it? TKS
@haihuachen26274 жыл бұрын
normally 3009 s2 won't lift.

@@haihuachen2627 Hi It´s not an 3009 s2, Its a 3009 first series called "Non improved", the best SME 3009 avalable, SME sold more than 100.000 3009 arms worldwide. It´s perhaps the most succesfull standalone arm in terms of sales and qualiy. I have a couple from early 70´s (52 years and still going strong) don´t even need replacement parts, just trated with care.

It seems an Ortophon VMS 10 or 20, a very good mid 1970´s cart. Difficult to find replacement stylus . I have at leas 5 of them different years, It´s a relative (in vinyl overpriced world) inexpensive and great cartl

what cartridge do you use?

It seems like an Ortofon VMS 20 a great cart from 1970´s, Have one myself, It´s not common nowadays ´cause there are no new stylus replacements , mine have the original stylus and a Jico replacemente I bought in the 90´s

Hi I´ve put a Nagaoka MP500 on an SME 3009 non improved like this, it´s a great match, really didn´t expect that, a heavy cart so you´ll need havy counterweight.
