Thorens TD-150 MKii vs Pro-Ject 1 Xpression Carbon Classic - Comparison - Vinyl

This is an improvised test :) I've just carefully installed the Ortofon 2m LVB 250 in my modded Thorens TD-150 mkii :) The question is, does this vintage turntable with SME 3009 series ii improved tonearm show the goodness of this cartridge more than the Pro-Ject 1Xpression Carbon Classic? Pro-Ject video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/n2OqaoyZZpikd80 Would you please help me decide which one sounds best? Should I leave the LVB 250 on the vintage Thorens or should I put it back on the Pro-Ject? The Thorens TD150 with the right combination of tonearm and cartridge can sound like thunder and lightning, i.e. shock you with the real. Yet it can be refined and gentle. I have one, took two years to modify it, and have kept it in that form for 12 years. A blessing from the Lord.

I feel the LVB is best suited for the Thorens. The sound of this TT benefits the most from the sharpness of this cartridge.

Nice hearinfg a comparison video again. i Iprefere the classic thorens , but then i would having owned a 150 and 160 haha , more mature unforced sound

Incredible. My father has a similar setup with a Sonus Super Blue cartridge in storage. I hope to own it one day... I loved it as a child.

The Pro-Ject sounds like a vitrola in comparison with the Thorens/SME Series 2

Very interesting. I definitely feel the LVB 250 sounds nicer on the Thorens. The bass is noticeable deeper and the dynamics a bit better. The sound from the Pro-Ject feels a little 'flat' or 'one-dimensional' in comparison.

I have a Thorens like this. It had spent the last 30 years deep in a cabinet. Now i feel that i have to spend some money on its repair and then reactivate it. I will need a tonearm that fits- may be Rega RB 250.

Wow, I auditioned this cart on my SL-1200 and I didn't like the sound. The match with this Thorens is superb though as if this is the sound I was looking for in this cart.

I believe the Thorens sounded better, and I really got a kick out of the music. Those musicians were very good.
