I have this turntable, and it works without any issues. I did replace the standard cartridge with a line contact one, and I also use a digital downforce gauge for an accurate force. I know people have made many remarks about the manufacturing location in Taiwan, but the company that makes these have a better reputation than many of the European manufacturers. Although I have a wonderful Rega that I've used for many years, the Thorens is now my best turntable. It works without fault.

Yes - You are right. If your manufacturing standards are good, the quality of your products will also be good

isn't birthday / Christmas fun ? just because -I got myself a Thorens TD 103 full auto. totally 100 % satisfied. ( well, I prefer the more 'woody' veneer of the TD 240-2.) for the doubters -sticker on mine says made in Germany. I believe they still are. I learned long ago ( I'm 73 ) with an original AR T'table that full auto is way better at handling the critical needle /disc contact than my hands. especially. if ' enhancements' are in use. still have a 40 year old pioneer full auto, still works fine. that is a product. ! no technical tests but in home - the cue lever holding needle about 1/ 2 inch above spinning LP , 110 w /Ch receiver with vol. control at -5 ( far louder than I ever play. ) there is no hum. no feedback. none. good to see thorens is using a standard SME / technics type head shell. the H'shell for TD240 / 103 is $ 75. and those 4 tine wires / contacts are super fragile.

Hi I have a question about the arm. I noticed that the arm of my Threns TD 402 DD moves inside the pin that connects it to the base, it doesn't depend on the two screws that fix it to the sides to make it move up and down but just on the pin inserted in the basis. Do you know if this is normal for this TP 72 arm or is mine faulty?
@TLPCHC Жыл бұрын
The arm needs to "float" a little, so it won't be fixed solid in any way

@@TLPCHC HI Thanks for the reply, but the arm of my Project Debut 3 doesn't move even a millimeter, while this Thorens TD 402 DD arm moves a lot. I think it's not normal because the movement in the pivot of the arm creates distortion caused by resonances? Unfortunately I cannot compare my model with others because I live far from a Thorens store. I'm trying to figure out if I have to return it or it's this model of arm that's made like this. Thank you Kind Regards

Looks like cheap Chinese made turntable with a little transformer doesn't scream quality ..

This is not an expensive turntable

doesn't the Rega P3 come with a ' wall wart ' - a universal type transformer about 3 inch square - and it costs several hundred more.....
