Thorfinn's rage [Vinland Saga fan animation]

Vinland Saga is one of my fav manga of all time. And when I read this scene, I thought it would be cool to animate it. Took me almost 3 months to finish this and it's finally done! Next up, a berserk fan animation (for real this time).

@@colgate1602 If we're going by 50ish chapters per season, then it will most likely be the second half of season 3. If we go by the same time difference between season 1 and 2, then it should be animated around 2026. However, it could be an Attack on Titan type of situation where the time difference between the first and second season is the longest, so I think it's more accurately slated for 2025. The manga is also wrapping up in its final arcs so they hopefully won't really need to delay the anime.

Another thing I liked about this part is that it shows that thorfinn still had a ways to go, and he still hasn't completed his journey yet. He saw the man who ruined his life right before him, and he has to fight within himself to spare him. He really grew from this as a character

Some of the characters look a little weird in a few scenes, probably because the proportions look a little off. 0:00 and 0:45 these two scenes specifically, the heads look a little too big. However, ya hatchin and cross hatchin is amazin! It makes tense scenes feel even more tense. Also, the really detailed close up of Thorfin's eye, with Floki reflected in it,is top notch. Overall i think ya did a good job

Don't worry bro. He does fight more, but he doesn't go back to being a hateful raging animal like when he was a kid. He is more measured. And when he does fight and hurt people it's because he has to, not out of anger or hatred or negative emotions. The Floki situation really tested him though. I hope we get to see it in season 3.

I love this! If you don't mind me asking, what's your animation process like?

It's been a while since I animated so I don't really remember exactly. I think my process was storyboarding first, then sketching the key frames (light and shadows are also included in the sketch). If I'm satisfied with the result, then I'll begin the lineart for the key frames, then do the in-betweens. Coloring is next, if the animation doesn't have colors, then I'll add the values on the drawings. Then some effects and finishing touches. I'll do this scene by scene until the entire animation is done, then I'd proceed to edit the animation on a video editing software. I don't have a proper education in animation so my process might be sloppy compared to actual animators

*Spoiler* I can't remember if this was before or after Hilda forgave Thorfinn, but I'm pretty confidant Hilda would have intervened and tried to hurt/kill Thorfinn for trying to take another life. She would question, okay if he was responsible for killing your father and you want to kill him, why can't I kill the one responsible for killing mine? If it was post-forgiveness, she would try to quell his anger and try to prevent Thorfinn from attacking Floki
