Fuck meta...in every game. Unoriginal copy/pasta clones. That said, blood based magic needs its own seal and incantations cost twice as much as sorcery after the new update. Incantations are slooooooooow as fuck and practically useless against bosses, mobs and pvp. Add on the self imposed level cap of 150 for the majority of the dumbass fromsoft player base and... what do you know, you're relying on melee anyway. At least they fixed arcane scaling? Love this game, but there's a lot of shit that needs seriously rebalancing... this is a sandbox and enemies do twice the damage of previous souls games, you'd think some of the systems would be tweaked to correspond.

Use the dragon communion seal for your faith spells. It scales heavily with arcane which actually increases the bleed process on your spells cast with it

Keep talismans in mind too. Theres one that boosts fire damage, which you get from mohg's spear, flies, bloodboon, and (i think) the blood claw attack. Also the one that boosts damage by 20 percent if any enemy is bleeding. Swarm of flies is crazy btw dont sleep on it.

Jev I’d recommend using the white mask (once you get it in new game plus), the fire scorpion charm which buffs the mohgwyn spear and the NIHIL! Shard of Alexander which buffs the NIHIL! Even more and maybe one of the sore seals youre already using

Just a tip for mages that I found very useful. The mana flask, I like to keep those on my hold Y/triangle button menu and then my heals on my normal hot bar. Makes it easier to manage both consumables.

I did my first playthrough as a dragon mage, only the dragon incantations and the coded sword. At times it was miserable and other times it would melt bosses and make them a joke. It is a really unique playthrough. My only tip is you have to use summons since you have no hyper armor and cast time is really long.

You can use the albeneric's staff found in volcano manor, which scales off of arcane. If you use blood magic on it, the proc will scale off of arcane. Briars of punishment will bleed proc in 3 casts at 80 arcane, rather than the 10 normally

Oh hey this is the build I used on my first playthrough! The black blade is really good against high health targets because it does %health damage on the DoT I used raptor talons with the blood infusion as my weapon in stead of the knife

Lifesteal fist would fit with this build. works only on human enemies but allows you to regain HP by sucking out your opponent's soul. Idk if the HP regen scales well but it could be interesting.

I recommend you get the Rot Dragon Spell and the Dragon Sacred Seal as a weapon for incantations. Red Rot destroys most bosses and it does fit into a blood mage aesthetically.

Briars of sin has quite of bit to hyper armor to it tho, so even tho you’re standing still while you use it, you can’t be staggered or knocked out of the action once you start it. It’d be great against malenia. She’s weak to bleed, she can be staggered, and she can’t cancel the action when you start it

For my blood build I have 24 int, 24 faith, and 80 arcane. I also use the albinauric staff because it gets a s scaling in arcane and scales off your int as well. And with the arcane scaling and having 80 arcane, you will be proccing bleed a lot more.

Instead of Reduvia, you could use Uchigatana with Seppuku which would have B tier Arcane scaling, the White Mask also applies the same effect as the Blood Exultation Talisman.

I’d imagine for a blood mage you’re not looking for overall damage, you’re looking getting the bleed effect to pop. Which makes this a pretty viable setup until you fight bosses resistant to bleed… yknow like Radagon

You could run the talisman that heals you every time you defeat an enemy. I tested out and it actually outheals the damage you do to yourself with these spells. Even if you can 2-3HKO enemies it still helps a lot with this build.

I am trying this builld: Dragonblood Knight to make a Faith/Arc build with the Dragon Sacred Seal. The idea is to cast Rot Breath on the bosses to afflict them with Red Rot at the start of a fight then poke at them with Mogh's spear to slowly bleed them out from behind a shield.
