I have this on my 2019 and empty can run 9.5L per 100kms (25mpg) at a speed of 118 - 124 Kms on the highway. This is worked out numbers not the computer numbers. I also have the S&B Cold air intake on the truck and noticed the throttle response immediately improve. Love the Banks Derringer! Highly recommend

I’ve got a 2019 L5P Duramax and I’ve been considering doing the Ram air box and filter from Banks, the I dash, and the Derringer all at once. But kind of skeptical about it all. I’ve also been considering doing a delete, especially since I know the dpf filter IS a filter and will eventually need to be replaced, a delete costs about the same as a new aftertreatment system does, But after watching this video I think I won’t delete. I think I’ll go after the Banks products and clean the engine up a bit, clean the performance up a bit and maybe “stretch” that dpf service interval out a bit. I work on semis for a living, it’s been my career, and I’ve worked on the aftertreatment systems since they first came out with the egr valves. I think it SUCKS that GM thought it was better to go with a non serviceable type of aftertreatment system. A Cummins system can be split, and the customer has the ability to have their dpf actually cleaned between replacements same goes for the doc and scr catalyst etc. The ones GM uses are all one piece, and when I called the dealership to inquire about their aftertreatment systems they either tell me they are not serviceable or they don’t know. Which is piss poor customer service for a $70k + truck. So my question now is, are there any other Banks products you’d recommend a guy like me should buy besides the air cleaner, I dash and derringer module ? I kind of like the pillar mount for the gauges instead of the suction cups, so probably that. Any ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated and thanks in advance.

I like your take on it, and I agree that if OEM’s would consider making the DPF and EGR more serviceable or service friendly, more people would buy in. Its been proven time and again that we can make good power with aftermarket treatment systems in place. I think you are on the right track with what you are thinking of installing from Banks. When you pull through the fire wall use a metal coat hanger make a small loop on the end so you don’t stab anything and push it through and tape the wire on the end of it so you can pull it through easy

There is another option Acrylic ruler or a plastic with 30 lb double sided tape wherever you want.

The most important part of the video is the little connecters and I couldn't see how you dis-connected them 'cause your arm was in the way. Around 3:30'ish.

Thanks for the installation guide. Nicely explained. I’m looking to increase fuel efficiency in my 2019 GMC Duramax. I read very positive things about the Banks module in this video. Do you have an opinion on which routes are best for getting the best MPG?

MPG’s really are part of the overall condition of the truck and driving styles. Yes, these chips are designed to increase efficiency in the vehicles so if all the stars align, should result in increased MPG. From our experience, best MPG gains comes from tuning.

My exact thought as soon as he said it. Factory grommets are a pain to work into, but it’s why they’re there. Give it a year and the sheet metal is gonna wear through the sheath and ground out the system.

A year after having this on my truck I have a check engine light. Showing map sensor and fuel pressure sensor code. I’m thinking it’s cause of this banks stuff cause the truck only has 25k miles on it. Regret ever messing with it at all

If you cleared the code out did it come back? Have you removed the module to see if it makes a difference? If it is because of the Banks we will help you resolve the issue.

Thought this LP5 was rated at 445 horse and 910 torque stock? The dyno numbers with the derringer aren’t much more than stock? Am I missing something? Seems like it’s not worth buying it?

thats wheel horsepower... Manufacture measures to the crank. Stock numbers to the wheel are much less than advertised.

We did not on this truck but for fuel economy and overall performance we always suggest the big three: tuner, air intake, exhaust.

Just got stuck in a parking lot with their system, error codes and would not crank. Finally got it to work and when I took it to my mechanic buddy, no codes showing. Thoughts???

Should a guy be removing the system entirely before taking it to the dealer for service?

@Cory You have two options. You can either pull the Derringer tuner and engine harness off the truck (which takes less than 10 mins), or you can unplug the OBD-II cable for the iDash/Derringer and everything in place. For most of the dealership out there, they understand that accessories like this are harmless and are completely fine with it. That being said, always check with a service adviser to make sure they don't ding your warranty.

I have seen this product installed in other videos and all of them say you need to access the fps on the side of the motor behind the throttle body. you accessed the fps on the top of the motor. Why is your install different?

That's why we do a pre and post dyno run on these types of videos. It show the actual horsepower and the actual increase.

It comes with 445 flywheel horsepower. On the dyno, you're measuring rear wheel HP and torque, that's actual power to the ground. So pre-Derringer, he was getting about 400HP to the ground.

The Idash monitors several parameters, towing heavy in level 6 wouldn’t be advisable. Consult the Derringer owners manual before installing.
