It was slightly more difficult to find these maps, and there are some gaps, but here is nearly every map from Thorpe Park between 1986 and 2019, including some Fright Nights maps and little facts for every year!

If Thorpe Park didn't create the maps for 2010-2013, then the whole video would have some nice maps. All in all, great video!

Thanks very much. I’m not keen on the modern map style, I actually preferred the spacing on the 2009-2013 map, only because it was clearer. But the style was not good then.

Can't believe how much Thorpe park maps has changed from 80s - now. I would like to see them bring back Thorpe Park Rangers like what they did for saw last year. Fright Nights I think 2013 changed the future.

I remember fondly going to Thorpe Park back in the 80's. I live a few miles away so it was a frequent day out, and later in the early 90's I worked there for a few seasons. It is entirely unrecognisable now from what it was. You used to enter the dome and just behind it to the left was the Cinema180 dome which was a major draw back then :) Behind that was the always breaking down Bronco Bikes which had the mechanism altered so that the bike would bob up and down as you peddled around a little track. I kind of always found it annoying xd. All the water sports around the edges weren't really a part of your day out and usually cost extra so I never considered that as part of the theme park. There was a huge paddle boat to the left too which quite often wasn't even open. The heart of the park was the wonderful dark ride Phantom Fantasia which I think is still missed by the park today. I loved the rooms and vignettes based on horror themes and the gentle pace of it. Near to it was the huge Model World where you walked through and admired all the world landmarks spread out over a garden and walkways. To the right of the pavilion was some Paddle Boats, and further on was the ancient history area, Celtic houses, Roman forts, Medieval huts etc, spread out over a large area and where you relaxed and spent an hour or two immersed in that area. I'd been to the park five or six times over several years before I discovered this sort of hidden area and it always felt like such a special place as a result of that late discovery. It was kind of entertainment-less in a way and just felt like a space to chill. There were lovely large boats which took you to the farm which was across the lake but they were scheduled so rarely that more often than not you would walk the north route and take in the wonderful Pirate Island ride. The farm itself was quite sparse with a few farm animals in fenced fields and a few farm buildings without much to do there, but they did serve a wonderful full dairy ice cream in a waffle cone, which was the real reason you went there :) I remember back then new big rides would only happen every few years rather than yearly, and the introduction of the Log Flume at the top left and the Thunder River ride too gave it the sense of being a full on theme park. However it was around this time when all the quirky areas like the farm and Viking, Roman, Celtic etc areas started to be downsized or abandoned which is where the park started to lose it's original charm and began it's transformation to it's modern teenage oriented roller coaster thrill rides etc park that it is today. The whole park was much more gentle than it is now, with few rides but lots of weird and wonderful visual things to take in and it sort of induced a more gentle experience and day out.
