My wife originally hated Volbeat because of his voice. After me playing it on guitar and the radio often enough, she's accepted the fact that they're one of her favorite bands now. So much of his voice reminds me of Elvis, which they have definitely steered into, but Volbeat is unique enough with just his voice, then you add Rob's riffs and they're an amazing band. Speaking of, there are VERY few Volbeat songs I dislike playing on guitar, because nearly every single one of their songs is just fun in their own way to play.

i love volbeat just for the sake of being so unique. its along the lines of what i would almost call rockabilly metal. groovy ass riffs, you can 2 step one second and next second be in a bar brawl

I used to get annoyed with your negativity on tracks, BUT, point of view, and opinion, coupled with free speech, is essential. ALSO your talent enables you to be critical. Love watching you play and discuss tracks at the same time.

I'm kind of confused because I'm rarely "negative". I have thousands of videos and play throughs where I don't even say if I like the song or not. I'm just here to jam tracks most of the time

One day listening to Volbeat in the car, my wife turned to me and said "This guy sounds like a singer in an old Christian band." We both grew up in very religious families, so we had similar histories. Anyone familiar with early 80s Petra, Volbeat's singer does bear striking tonal similarity to Greg X. Volz. The only song of his accessible to Volbeat's audience is a cover of Dream on, on youtube.

you should definitely take a look at some of their earlier stuff. very reminiscent of load/reload era metallica. also a look at some of their early 2010s stuff. doc holliday is a really fun song to play and is really unique.

Literally the first I've ever heard of this band and I immediately thought "awesome voice", then you when you said "unpopular opinion but..." I'm thinking wtf?

This is really the only song I like by them. They sound amazing. Most of their songs are just a bit too poppy or almost Nickelback-esque in their songwriting. His voice is unbelievable though.
