As a mother, I would tell that young man that his Mom didn't take their falling out personally and she loves him. She will always love him ♥️

Your comment was the very first thing I thought of as well,. I could really feel his pain when he spoke about the last time he talk to his mom. I would tell that young man is that the last thing his mother would ever want would be for him to feel bad or guilty about their last encounter instead to remember all the beautiful times. I would also stress to him that she absolutely knows how much he loves her.

She sided with the person who has the power and control in fear that she'd be kicked out too. She stayed hoping to convince him to let her son come back. She was afraid to leave and was delusional enough to think one day things would be better. When you love someone or even just feel you've invested so much time in them you're afraid to leave and realize that you actually deserve better. You think you won't be able to find better and you won't be able to support yourself or your children alone.

Abusers choose jobs that give them power such as policemen, managers, government high positions. To a malignant narcissist power over someone/others is what he craves/wants the most. So marriage/a relationship gives him that power as head of the household which he uses to abuse/violently control the one closest to him: his wife/girlfriend, but children are often victimized or shunned by the psychotic controller to punish the wife more severely

The last day he almost killed me in front of them , he was strangling me over a second story railing ready to drop me as police arrived . Plenty of women are mentally/emotionally paralyzed after long ongoing abuse and develop crippling Stockholm Syndrome, which makes a woman only focus on surviving moment to moment/day by day. A lot of the time the abuse doesn't start until they have them in a place where they're unable to leave so please quit making it seem like women are making the decision to be with these fucking abusers! My stepdad stalked my mom and the police wouldn't do shit about it. She left, changed her number, changed her job, changed everything about her. He still found her. How about we demand that domestic violence be treated as the terrible crime it is instead of giving these douchebags a slap on the hand and releasing them back out into the public. There is a serious problem in this world where women are shamed because they are stuck in an abusive relationship in which they have no way out. Most women in this position don't have money to go anywhere and they've been cut off from all their family and friends. I know this isn't true for every person in a busy relationship but it holds true for the majority of them and it's a lot easier to tell somebody to do something when you're not in that position. No one stays with an abuser because they like being slapped around, they stay because they have no choice. Our governments should do more to protect them and to help them start over.

Everything I said and prayed about was heard because it shines through my daughter who us now 17. Many Blessings to all three of you. 💜❤ And Blessings to the young man covering these stories. 💜❤

Thank you to both the young reporter and the brave son telling this story. I'm 72, from a different state, and just now after hearing this story am finally able to use the correct words to describe how my own mother died over 53 years ago: "my mother died of terrible, gruesome abuse". Most think she died of cancer; no, she died of abuse that used cancer to get rid of her; abuse that had gone on for long years before she got cancer. If she had been allowed to get medical help before large parts of her body was totally, horribly eaten away and the cancer spread throughout her body, she might have lived for many more productive and wonderful more years. She was the most beautiful, brave, loving, intelligent, and wonderful woman I've ever known. When it was too late, she was finally able to "trick my father" into letting her use the car for a "shopping trip" where instead she saw a wonderful and brave doctor that personally stood up and fought against my father and gave her all the help possible to allow her to live a little longer. Very few knew the real story; most of the community celebrated my father as "one of their best" and never knew how much cruelty he imposed on some of his family. Thank you for telling these stories.

Denial of medical care for PAINFUL CANCER(!?) as a method of murder is so so cruel… I’m disgusted by this story. Your poor poor mother, she had so much courage to go to the hospital that day. Regardless of her death, that must have been a liberating day for her. Nobody could deny she needed help when the hospital saw the condition she was in…God bless that doctor who defended her. That man is most certainly in hell, if there is one. Im disturbed people like this walk the earth. I’m sorry your community never knew the real man he was. I wish someone had… ya know, did something to him to teach him a lesson. It scares me to imagine how many secret abusers exist around me… it’s one of the reasons my vice is nosiness.

@@ajl2232 whilst yours is a just idea, most people don’t care to change their minds about someone unless they are personally affected by them. It means that they’ll have to leave their comfort zone and in the long run, this might end up being more painful for the individual exposing injustices and abuse, as people show their disbelief…specially as the kid who actually lived it is in effect being labelled a liar.

Good for you that you safely left. Leaving at the first sign of abuse is better but harder to do when bringing his children into the world, as most abusers increase the abuse gradually until the woman is brainwashed with Stockholm syndrome. He’ll pack on the PDA/charm/gifts just to keep a woman controlled while she’s blinded by his extra charming ways and hoping he’ll never repeat the abuse, but he does over and over again as a pattern of love/abuse on and on until it escalates to death threats or even murder

I still have a DVPO (Domestic violence protection order) after 7 years later (Dec 10, 2014 was when I got out), but ended up getting my Concealed Carry as well, because I'm not going to rely on just a piece of paper to protect me. My controlling father beat my other to a pulp and threatened to kill her many times. He also threatened to kill her parents, making her too terrified to leave. One day, after a particularly brutal beating, she ran off with a small child in each arm and the clothes on her back. He hunted her down and nearly killed a man as he violently abducted my 4 year old brother. Many women can't just up and leave these relationships. The perpetrators are often charming to begin with and the abuse slowly creeps up. Too often, victims don't realize how deep in they are until it's too late. My sincere condolences to the brave boy who lost his mom, and my deep thanks to the young reporter who's bringing these stories to light. Domestic violence is as old as the human race and it's gone on for far too long. We need to educate ALL children in how to love and respect one another, and how to recognize the red flags before it's gone too far.

So they just ignore the battered women who often stay because they have no one to turn to except domestic violence shelters which are strict places with strict rules that a victim with ptsd/emotionally distraught feelings dislikes having to go to. I'm confused why there was such a gap from when the daughter escaped to a neighbor and when the murderer called 911. They said it was 58 minutes. Did the daughter and neighbors not call the police?! I ask because I was tricked into an abusive relationship and I had no family in the country at the time but I lived in one of the "safest" neighborhoods in the city (Chicago) and I lived on a small quiet, private street, only 7 houses and mine was directly in the middle. The abuse came out of nowhere within 6 weeks but he had MANY friends and connections in the police force so getting help was VERY hard! But the 1st part that let me down were my neighbors that had known me for 13 years(I am no Karen, ever) before this and finally confessed they heard my screams for help and my furniture and walls being broken with my body. When I tried to call and get help the cops protected him and threatened/implied problems for me if I pressed charges or filed restraining orders. It took for a night that after 6 hours of screaming and beating me, always yelling he was going to kill me, he did. He suffocated me by putting it his hand over both my nose and mouth tightly. He had me pinned on the floor and I fought with all that I could. I pleaded with my eyes and scratched, pulled... I had imagined when you suffocated that you would get a terrible migraine from lack of oxygen but it is the blazing fire that goes through your lungs and throat. Toward the end I thought even if he stopped now I would not be able to be rececitated because I thought my lungs were ripped and shredded inside from the burning terres. As my sight started to fade I tried to plead with him again with my eyes but he saw it and pressed harder as he hid his face on my shoulder. I woke up to my tenant giving me CPR. Once I was dead he packed a bag and stormed out of my house screaming "fuck you Felicia" it was my silence that made my tenants and neighbors finally decided to check on me and found me unresponsive and blue on my living room floor. They did finally also call the police who still tried to scramble to make the scene less then it was AND he came strolling back into my house as they were putting me in the ambulance. He tried to act surprised and as if it wasn't him. My tenants and neighbors gave weeks of statements that night but he was not arrested, just told not to stay in or come by the house until this was worked out. A Sgt. and other buddies came to the hospital trying to be my friend and offer to make him get counseling, etc. The nurses got their own security and police connections and kept them away whilst I was in the hospital. My male family from England came and made a settlement with him because it was easier and cheaper then fighting him and the police in Chicago. He was never arrested or charged though we tried. What probably saved me in the end was selling my house in Chicago, making a financial settlement with him to stay away and I would not fight further and moving back home to England never to return. Every bad thing that happens to everyone involved except those that helped, is richly deserved and I am hopeful everytime they hear a scream they are reminded of hearing me beaten and murdered for 6 hours and finding my lifeless body on the ground. For reference we were all white and upper middle class, white men have incredible privilege. I already knew that and NO I never thought it was ok and I always tried to use my privilege to protect those not as fortunate. There is just as much crime in white communities if not more it just doesn't get reported or prevented because white men govern almost every position of power in the western world and they have to keep that power and privilege protected at the cost of white women and children and even family pets. The police are all rapists, murders, abusers, pedophiles, thieves, drug addicts and dealers and whatever else you can think of. The FEW good cops are still complicit because they see and know what goes on and look the other way.

This is so sad I had to watch my mom be abused all her adult life My mother won't leave my father or go against him. He controls ALL the resources blocks her care, blocks her kids access to her which is both their kids. His neglect nearly killed her. She left house nearly dead. He blamed her being in coma on her. Sad to be born into domestic violence & be raised in it. The children can't understand why you choose to stay. There are long term mental effects of domestic violence & the kids raised in it. many times never recover. Will tell anyone in a toxic relationship once the mental & verbal attacks escalate to physical violence. Be safe make a plan of escape. NEVER give up working or your independence. If the hit you once it quickly escalate. Listen to love ones pay attention to warning signs there's ALWAYS warning signs

When he said he couldn’t tell the signs of abuse goes to show that he was around such chaos all the time, it wasn’t anything abnormal. I hope he and his sisters heart heals..
