Love the episode and I’m a father of 2 girls (my princesses) and I would never trade them off for anything in the world. I am a firm believer of parenthood bcos it has changed me completely and certainly for the better. The many experiences it has brought (both bitter and happy) are invaluable lessons that money cannot buy and that is priceless. Well said by Hazelle that what you value in the end is family and not your career bcos that is so true. I am 50yo and my girls are 19 & 14 now. Being able to watch them grow up day by day is simply just magical. Of course it comes with frustrations, arguments and heated debates at times but that will only strengthen the bond.. simply saying, we love our parents that brought us into the world, let’s pay it forward and also reap its gains.

Family always comes first. Work can never end. Watching the kid grow day by day and those little questions… joy is key.

Great video and discussion, but didn't really answer the question of why people want (or don't want) kids though.

Even though being a parent is self-sacrificial, all the reasons to have kids are self-serving and/or selfish. The only non-selfish reason to have kids is to give an orphaned/homeless child a home and a family.

So when you successfully helped an orphan out and derive joy from seeing him/her grow up, feeling love from him/her, experiencing the joy of having a family, that joy u receive is self serving to you too. But is it better to help them than to not? Stop overthinking this whole whether it is selfish or not thing. If u always approach life like this, that’s just such a sad way to live. It’s such a pessimistic way to view things. If you want to be a parent, then be. Don’t ask yrself whether it is for yourself or for the kid. The whole would end if everyone overthinks like this

@Cl0udStrife1996 The whole selfish or not-selfish premise is rooted from the common saying from parents who say that Childfree people are selfish because they don't want to have kids. Which is why the same mirror has to be faced back to them.

The govt cash is gone pretty fast. But better than nothing. 😅 It's pretty hard to predict whether a man will turn out to be a good and responsible dad to the child. I don't want kids at all. But when i have kids, 2 in fact, i realize that I'm a pretty good dad. I teach my kids academically. I read with them, play with them, bring them out on outings, teach them sports, talk to them etc. And i have been doing these consistently weekly for seven years! Never expect these and really surprise me.

Question: Why are we encouraging the unethical act of creating new mouths to feed when there already so many hungry people out there? Catch a man a fish and you feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish and you feed him for life. But create a man and you create a lifetime of hunger that need not exist in the first place.
