In Australia the camping, motorhome and caravan association worked with councils to arrange the RV friendly program. Councils were encouraged to select some land that they could put in a waste disposal, water point and in some cases toilets. This is then signposted and designated for free camping (sometimes a donation is encouraged) This means vans aren’t spread through a region. Rangers can patrol the area to ensure people do the right thing. It is safer as you are parked near others. Plus it brings in tourists/van lifers to towns and adds to their economy. Win/win

That’s a brilliant idea ,although I suspect that law was passed in the uk aimed primarily at the gypsy/ traveller community who stay in one place for weeks/ months at time.it’s a difficult one because that is part of their culture to travel.

Really enjoyed the music selection in this weeks video Janine. The ethereal music during the cascade scene was magic. We also went to Croyde based on your suggestion while we were there and it was one of our highlights. Cheers
Absolutely LOVE Tintagel. We stay in that same car park all the time in our van. In fact we were there 2 weeks ago and will be back there again in the beginning of September when the kids have all gone back to school.

OMG St Nectan’s waterfall looks amazing, wish I was going down there… but no - end of next week I’m off to Wales for 2 weeks! I’m going to be solo car camping 😬 so let’s see how that goes… going south to north and hope not to be too scared to practise the Welsh I’ve been randomly learning over the last year! I’ve been recommended the Queens vegan pub in Cwmbran - you may have to book but it sounds INSANE! Also I’ll be visiting their cultural festival the Eisteddfod in Tregaron, vegan friends I met through Facebook (like you!) my vegan cousin and fellow learners up north that I’ve only met through Zoom! Very exciting! Would love to catch you guys up there too! 💚

I understand why some people do not appreciate van lifers, holiday makers or whoever parking in some places- especially if they leave a mess. However I believe that the restrictions that are being brought in in some instances are because the powers that be are beginning to wake up to the fact that there are now so many people choosing to live as you guys do. This means the councils are not getting council taxes, the water companies are not getting their water chaarges and ditto with the electricity and gas companies. The share holders in these businesses want their pound of flesh and its diminishing. They are realising that if enough people opt out and live a life of freedom then their profits will go. I think it is primarily for this reason that van life is being curtailed. They are using the litter aspect as a reasn for introducing these limitations on people's freedom...but the bottom line is - its all about the money....

I agree there is an element of economic control aimed at restricting this way of life. It was the same vein as parliamentary enclosure of common land, the highland clearances, persecution of vagrants and so on.

In Bournemouth, car parks are being sold off for flats by a rotten council, see their regular appearance in private eye. Tourism has been under attack for years. Many are happy to pay parking tickets for illegal parking. If you can afford it, the sea view is yours. But this also means emergency vehicles and public transport can get blocked. 💩 Always falls from the top, the whole country is suffering from greed driven, entitled scumism.

You two make me want to go to Devon and Cornwall again! Croyde is one of my favourite little seaside towns, Saunton Sands is epic too. I had to giggle at Janine and the hot jerk jackfruit 😅 I really do agree with you about opening up parking spaces for vans, things have changed over the last few years for so many and the local authorities need to get with the program. Demonising all vanlifers and making it difficult is a deliberate act to prevent people living an alternative lifestyle, in my opinion, and reminds me of the Battle of the Beanfields where travellers were treated appallingly by police. I blame Priti Patel for this, the govt don't want people living off grid and thinking for themselves. They want us all right where they can see us. Thanks for sharing your adventures again 💚

I think it’s the times as far as the trash people leave behind. We live in California and the Lake Tahoe area has a horrible problem with tourists trashing the area. Last summer residents protested at the areas where people enter the area because the problem was so bad. I think people forgot how to behave after being locked up for so long. Good luck to you both!

It was a really good film and so interesting. Last time i went to Tintagel the suspension bridge did not exist instead it was a rickety terrifying wooden slatted bridge crossing the sea with ropes to hold, i had a buggy with my daughter in and a 4 year old who thought it was good to bounce much to the horror of other people walking across to the castle. I am glad to see it has improved. wishing you good travels and i look forward to the next video.

Totally agree about the new law... Just be civil and not a knob if you're asked to move on. The problem with the no parking signs are that people are using car parks as campsites. Chairs and tables out will soon annoy the locals. The rubbish left by anyone is then attached to van dwellers. And I'm afraid PfN has become too popular. Plenty places to park up if you just look.... 👍
