Loved the super vlog, and really found this BTS video fascinating, so thanks for putting this together Kraig. I was wondering how the dynamics of the group would have impacted what you filmed and how you filmed it, so your description of this was very interesting. I liked that you were able to put yourself in the film and for some shots need to use others in the group to capture that footage, it was important for the story. You’ve got me thinking about the cameras I use, I love the fact that this was done on one camera. I won’t be too quick to get rid of the drone, the footage add some nice context to the film. I liked how it wasn’t over done but provided that bigger picture when needed for certain locations. I really want to work on my story telling in video and sharing this has been very helpful…thanks mate!

This is the film that turned me on to your channel. I was so in awe of this film that i subscribed and binged watched the rest of your other travel vlogs. So thank you for sharing your travels. This behind the scene stuff is cool to me. As someone who is not a film maker, i have a firm appreciation for the process. You've further inspired me to shoot some of my own footage and play around with some editing and see what i can come up with. So, thanks again for all your hard work. The finished product turned out well in my opinion. Can't wait for the next one.

Thanks for answering my Twitter question! It's really interesting because I just finished a vlog that I filmed over two days back in November and went from two hours of footage to around 8 minutes (some of that involved long timelapse clips). It took me a long time to finally get through the project and seeing your process has been really reassuring. It will definitely help me approach edits like this in future videos. Especially just trimming down a lot of the unnecessary clips.

Really great work, man! Hearing about your thought process for the vlog is extremely helpful and inspiring. To give you some context on how this has helped me starts with Wedding Film School... I started off as a fashion photographer that eventually started shooting weddings for extra income. Wedding photography turned into full time wedding cinematography thanks to the help of WFS. However, after 3 full wedding seasons, I kind of burnt out on weddings and wanted to get back into shooting portraits, fashion & lifestyle/street photography combined with the video/editing chops I learned shooting weddings. As a hybrid photo/video shooter, I sometimes struggle when jumping back and forth between shooting photos and video for a client. And 9 times out of 10, it is because I am lugging around too much gear. I recently used Lightroom to analyze the focal lengths I shoot most at and really seem to love to shoot between 24-35mm. Hearing that you could have shot the entire Tokyo vlog with the 16-35mm was BIG for me. There is definitely something to be said about minimalism helping with creativity. It is easier to get into a "zone" when you simplify your gear. With this in mind, for 2018, my goal is to try to limit myself to a single camera/lens combo to shoot both photo/video. I realize I may miss some shots, but I'm okay with that if what I do capture is FIRE! Your Tokyo vlog almost gave me permission to move forward with less. Thanks for that!

Great value Kraig! I love the things you were saying about storytelling, that's what interests me too and I think there's so much to learn when it comes to putting thought into the story and finding your style. Personally the super vlog was quite long for my usual KZbin binging, and I'm wondering if I would have felt differently about it if it was in 3x10min parts instead of 1 big vid (That way I can watch one part first and then come back for part 2 another day. Instead I just skimmed through the super vlog. Just sharing my thoughts) Can't wait wait for your next super vlog!

ok this is probably the first longer form comment i've ever left on a youtube video but it was that good! first I have to say I messed up here and haven't seen your Tokyo Super Vlog, but don't worry I'll go watch it soon! As someone who is just getting into videography and trying to learn as much as I possibly can, the content and information that you put into this video with specific examples and screen captures of your project were awesome. I was hooked for this entire video. I also liked at 20:00 you talked about the letterboxing scaling into the screen which is an effect I also find super interesting and I think weirdly was first done cinematically in the hunger games pt. 2 when katnis is lifted up into the arena. It's hard to tell at first and I honestly didn't even notice the first time I watched the movie but the entire thing was shot in IMAX, the scenes where katnis is in the arena are full screen and all scenes outside the arena have the letterbox. Anyway, cool effect, awesome video, amazing info!
