I respect this man so much. I found this video quite heartbreaking, He is so transparent and humble and gives so much to other people in the form of information and learning, this is why he’s respected and popular. I think you’re amazing Lionel, I want you to do so well and so many other people do too. I hope you get some rest. You’re amazing, you deserve it all. ❤

"gives so much to other people" is very true. a little story about Lionel that not many people know. I first met Lionel when he was my summer camp counsellor and then the year after or so we were part of the C3 high performance team with him right when he was still at the beginning of his triathlon journey. he created an entire training plan for me which at the time I didnt realize how much effort must have gone into that. he explained to me so much about running (a lot of it was based on Jack Daniels running formula). I still have it printed in a binder at my parents house. and he would take me on one-on-one bike rides which I am sure were very easy for him but quite challenging for me. I did my first ever 40km bike ride with him when I was in summer camp all the way to Hockley hill and we did the hill once and I was dying and then he said "time to do it again". I remember having pretty low confidence in myself and a lot of issues in my training were "mental" in the sense that I could literally not imagine what I was capable of. I did not even think It was possible for me to bike 40km and that's when he said something along the lines of "well we have to do it now". I remember there was an 800m horse track and I was doing 3x1 mile repeats (I must've been 13 years old at the time) and the goal was 6:40 per mile. I did not even think would be able to do it for one of them and somehow managed to do it in the pouring rain. many good memories in Tucson as well. although I never made it very far in triathlons (went to age group worlds for duathlon and triathlon in 2014) he definitely changed the way I am in daily life and the way I approach other goals of mine. I ended up going down a similar messy path in university but I am now back on track in law school and competing in Shptzhund with my dog... which surprisingly has a lot of similarities to triathlon except in this case im the coach and the dog is the athlete. hopefully Lionel sees this and realizes the long term impact he's had.

I guess people relate to Lionel and deeply appreciate the content, because at the end of the day this is how everyone 's life is - a rollercoaster. A fight. A series of ups and downs. This IMO is the true inspiring image of this man - although he's a man like you and me and occasionally struggles, he comes back to conquer. Thanks for everything, LS. You are the man!

Not because you're a champion, but because you're humble, give credit to your team, and always looking to improve, being transparent, and being real about your performances, training, and the way you're living life. Next year I want to run a sub 3h marathon and I am gonna do my first 70.3 race at Mt. Tremblant. Your videos and work ethic inspire me to become better in the sport. The triathlon vids I most look forward to; Lionel is a fascinating character full of heart to put himself on display. Even though everything has been said already in 721 comments, I'll echo everything everyone has said. The vlogs are a must moving forward. Truly inspirational. Introspective. Addictive. Speechless watching this after kona thoughts video. Extremely relieved that Lionel is in that head space. We all feel a sense of urgency: Get #1 before it's too late. But I think there are many great, pivotal years ahead. My only huge let down from IM this year was waiting 8 hours and seeing no footage of Lionel during the event. I thought that was shameful on the part of the broadcast. Winning or hard day you should showcase one of your star athletes. Always admiration. Always respect.
@PKVKishan
@PKVKishan 2 жыл бұрын
Completely agree with you. The broadcasters got it horribly wrong. Even the early part (at least the first four hours) of the men's race had people in the live chat enquiring about Lionel's position and progress within the field. It was expressly clear that people had more emotions attached to Lionel than the race leaders. Moreover, he was bib number 2. He should have been accorded more respect by the broadcasters.

I'm super happy for you for taking what you can from this race. You're also absolutely correct when it comes to people judging you, it's also easy to judge someone who shows all of their cards, especially without doing so yourself. Keep on inspiring others and putting on one hell of a show, there'll always be people who want to see you learn & grow!

There are only a handful of winners, we are all competing to do our best, and your videos are an inspiration to many to keep training and improving, that’s a win in itself. Glad to hear that you are not too hard on yourself! Keep doing for the improvement and fun !

Hard work may or may not pay off..... there's no guarantee...it is just life Keep going mate......your races, your KZbin channel and your attitude are all good and inspiring Don't let a few races or a few comments discourage you... Whenever I am demotivated, I always watch one of your videos before I do 25k on my bike

What inspires me most about watching your content is not how many races you win or make the podium. It is the daily grind, the insights into your training, the mistakes and learnings as well as all the successes. I will be here and watching every next episode you upload. Thank you!

Love this video. Very honest. Best perspective I’ve seen from Lionel after one of his disappointing races. The line is razor thin in preparation for an IM. Would love to see you take the Tiger Woods approach and race less with a focus on the big events. Just keep sharing all of this amazing content! Super inspirational regardless of the race outcomes to see how you push yourself and are so dedicated to finding your ‘best’. 🙌❤️

Tiger Woods isn't someone you model after LOL. The guy hasn't won in years ... plus amongst other things ... extracurricular activities.

Lionel you are the most humble and honest athlete I’ve ever seen. I was cheering for you on the bike and run, and it was great to see you out there. Watching your videos and following along on your journey is truly a highlight of my year, and continues to inspire me to train in triathlon. Thank you so much for all you do, for letting us follow along with you, and I hope you continue to strive towards your goals. Also, please continue the vlog series. It was so fun and definitely a great addition to the many depths that make up Lionel Sanders.
