I suspect, as others have mentioned, that the Tardis arranges its internal space to suit the occupants. The recent Tardis interiors are bigger, because of all the people. Ruth-Doctor clearly travels on her own. And she clearly isn't a coffee table/armchair sort. So no need (yet) for any bigger space. I loved it too, for the reasons you mention. Love this Tardis, and totally agree it wouldn't work with all those current companions, but then that's something else that doesn't work for me, two companions is enough, one is better still. That, for me, is the issue with Jodie's era, less would be more. Less characters with more to do, most are introduced then swiftly dispatched and I don't care about them because we've hardly got to know them first. Rein in some of the over the top performances, particularly Jodie's breathless take on it. Ruth's TARDIS is so much better than the current one, very stylish and understated, which also goes for 'Dr Ruth', a great performance, how I wish that she had been the first choice for a female Doctor.

It’s not just the amount of companions though. That sized TARDIS doesn’t give much scope for carried camera angels and movement within the TARDIS. Keep the aesthetic but make it bigger!

You seem to call Fugitive of the Judoon "Revenge of the Judoon" quite a few times there, sorry to be the one to point that out, but it did kind of catch my attention. Overall I really like this tardis console room, I would prefer it to have a more visible extrance into the rest of the tardis, because in all the pictures except that one of Ruthdoc there really doesn't look like there's anywhere obvious to go in there. And there's a thing that I just noticed that will bother me forever now that I've seen it, the roundels are in strips of three, then there's a shlightly wider gap, then another strip of 3 and the middle two are in line with each other instead of offset. It should ideally be -_-_-_ but instead it's --_ -_-, that's a bit of a shame. The original prop used in An Unearthly Child was in use up to and including Inferno, they introduced a new on in the Claws of Axos, which was used until Death to the Daleks, and was a fairly decent replica of the original, with roughly the same shape and most of the same type of switches in the same positions. But the rotor on the later pertwee one was very different, the one seen here is definitely based on that original time rotor. So it's hartnell through early pertwee.

This is what I would have liked Jodies tardis console design to look like because it is brilliant. My only things I would like to change about the design is to make it larger and more spacious, I would also like the roundals on the walls to be lit up to allow more lighting into the set. For example when the tardis is in standby mode the lighting of the room can be quite dark and when the tardis is being used it could be more lit up to look more alive xx

@Philip Hawkins The production design of Chibb's era has been exceptional hasn't it? BEAUTIFUL creations. More focused than Moffatt's era in some respects (?). I love the 'merlin's cave' feel of 13's TARDIS interior and the mysterious blue coldness of Ruth's is refreshing. Actually, that makes sense. I remember reading that the _Hell Bent_ set was _hell_ to film in and light properly. A Tardis for a next Doctor should depend on character & looks. For example: Imagine Tilda Swinton as the Doctor, as a more haughty version, perhaps somewhat detached, then I'd go for a more clean, clinical look, like the Ruth Tardis. If we imagine David Thewlis as the Doctor, with more warmth, but also more scatterbrained and manic, I'd like a warmer Tardis, with wooden floors and/or carpets and more colour, but also with clutter, piles of books and half-finished machines lying around.

To a degree I agree. But I’m also fine with there being a generic template that gets used by multiple doctors and the personality comes from accessories to the room. Sort of like how Capaldi era added items to smith’s 2nd TARDIS.

Some people have questioned why does The Fugitive Doctor have a Tardis that looks like a police box. I think it's because the Doctor and the Tardis are psychically linked somehow and because the time child what's changed so much and so many times by Tecteun that the Doctor developed into a person who decided for themselves, I will not change. This attitude got transferred over to the Doctor's TARDIS so that she decided, I too will not change. Then the chameleon circuit is not really broken, but the Tardis has just become stubborn. Also I think that the first Doctor did not steal the TARDIS. Instead Clara told him which Tardis to take and he took his own, breaking it out of impound, you might say. He set his own Tardis free as if it was being held prisoner. A better question to ask would be why was the Fugitive Doctor called the Doctor. I believe that all of the Time Lords receive their real name when they look into the untempered schism, think I'm spelling this wrong. But all of the Time Lords choose the name they wish to go by actually as an alias, however their real name is there essence or who they really are. They are locked in to or have to remember to become their real name when they regenerate. The first Doctor chose the name the Doctor because that's who he was known as before. We can never know the real name of any Time Lord. We would have to be a Time Lord or the equivalent to hear it or understand it. Matt Smith may have shared his name with that big son God thing when he said take it all. All of who he is. And Jodie Whittaker may have shared her name with the matrix when she was trying to break free of The matrix. Too much stimulus, too much knowledge and even the matrix couldn't handle it. David Tennant told River Song there's only one time he could there's only one time he would tell someone his name. I think that one time was because she was a time lord and as far as he knew there were no more.
