Thoughts on The Last of Us Part II

TLDR: Great video you did ramble on a bit but overall it's good to see your opinion on the story maybe it doesn't seem as bad as a lot of people put it, maybe I will eventually pick this one up someday or forever sit in my backlog. Really wish games felt more like games rather than a linear story piece but its clear TLOU is just that type of game. I'm not much of a story guy but I appreciate naughty dog's attitude on using games to tell stories. However, I would still prefer to them come back to the Jak series as that feels much more like a game to me and it makes games like TLOU, Uncharted and Telltale like games seriously when the Game in the game isn't put front centre and the story is now the big focus and gameplay is taking more of a back seat. I completely agree that the intentions of the developers won't work as a movie as videogames have many different things you can do with perspective and interaction that a movie simply cannot. I appreciate all your thoughts on the game however and I might pick up the series and give it another go even if the story seems to now be a subjectively opinion based mess where many people cannot agree on if its good or bad. Personally, I used to be a story person with my games but the old types of stories with character development and arks seem to not exist in games at all as its all about progressing your character and the character has no face or identity than the one you put on them. I think to explain my point the first Ratchet and Clank game still hits me with its story being from a Brash character who is selfish and only cared about himself to make a friend in the end which almost always makes me crack a tear. I really wish storytelling can come back to videogames but not take such a first priority approach such as TLOU or Uncharted as it leaves the gameplay rather Linear and lacking any freedom of direction or choice.
