I really want a pro but I just cant decide which size would best suit me. On one hand I like the idea of more space on the bigger size but I am worried it will be too big. I currently love writing in my 9.5 by 7.25 business note book. Any suggestions?

My preference is the smaller executive size - they are great for meetings and designs and agendas - all the things I need. The letter would be my preference if I was taking class notes or doing larger design sketches though.

I’m glad I could help - it’s fair to be conflicted. If you’re going to get an Orbit and a Pro, consider which size you want to use on-the-go more frequently. That size should be the Pro because the Orbit isn’t as easy to throw into a bag without damaging the pages unless you get the capsule too, which is quite bulky.

I purchased the Rocketbook Panda planner after watching your review, and I have found it beneficial. However, while going through a divorce, I have started writing down my feelings from time to time, as well as devotionals. The only problem I’ve run into is, the Panda Planner doesn’t offer much pages to write (I understand because it’s planner focused). I was wondering if the Pro would be a good notebook for just writing. I like the way it looks, but I wasn’t sure if it’d be worth it. I have the everyday planner, but I found it to be to unstructured for my lack of focus.

Great idea and love the sturdy, firm cover, which helps a lot when writing on the lap. However, not being able to rearrange, add, or remove pages means a lack of versatility which is an absolute deal breaker for me and my applications. Swapping expensive page pack add-on in and out is costly, clumsy, and utterly impractical. On coil-bound Rocketbook’s, at least one can remove the coil, build the notebook customized to one’s needs, re-install the coil. This rocketbook pro is a total pass for me. I had opportunity to buy a brand-new, unopened, large model yesterday for $30, and passed on it.

I am new to Rocketbook having recently purchased the Mini. I have found the OCR to be, in a word, terrible! It transcribes my handwriting pretty accurately but adds a bunch of extra characters, usually down the left side of the “page”. Older videos that I’ve watched don’t appear to mention this as an issue. Is this a new issue caused by a recent update? Is there a fix?

I dont want to buy lot of books. I don't want to stack up hundreds of books...and then do data mining. A simple search of my valuable notes is two clicks away. Also if you love environment...you are saving tress.😊

If you can't mix and match pages from the Pro lineup, I'm not sure I want one. Spiral bound spine isn't the greatest, but at least I can untwist it and insert pages however I like.

Does anybody know much about pen compatability with the frixion refils? Ive seen things saying that if it fits pilot g2 itll fit a frixion but im not sure if anybody else has better advice?

That’s the best advice you can get. Pilot makes the FriXion cartridges very close in dimension to the very popular G2. That allows you to use any G2 pen body with a FriXion cartridge. I have a few reviews of pens from Machine Era, Autmog and Tactile Turn that are compatible for this reason ✌️

The Rocketbook system is pretty neat, I have a playlist that goes into more detail. The one thing that I did mention, but should be noted, is that the FriXion ink feels very gel-like on the polyester synthetic pages, and it takes about 12-15s to dry, creating an opportunity for smudging (check out my FriXion pen videos for more details) - those are the two things that are most inconvenient about the system, but the Pro does a good job of elevating the cover to avoid smudging the top page if you close the notebook quickly ✌️ Good luck in your search 👍

@jhallock smudging for lefties is definitely a possibility. I’ve had lefties comment on my videos saying it is a problem and others saying it isn’t - ultimately, it comes down to you hand positioning while writing because the ink will not be dry. If you commonly get transfer on your palm while writing with a pen or pencil, then this will likely be a problem.

You mention here you wouldn't recommend combining packs, I am curious why? Also, I would like to know what is the in the default pack template-wise?

For the Pro, you can’t really combine packs because you would have to open and re-close the metallic binding. I haven’t found a good way to re-close them without altering the cylindrical shape. I believe the default is lined on one side and dot-grid on the other - but I’m sure the site will say 👍

Check out Pilot G2 compatible pens by Tactile Turn, Machine Era and Autmog (I’ve reviewed some) - the FriXion cartridge is the same shape as Pilot G2, so you can swap them out and get the benefit of a metal pen body 👍

Thanks - I use a variety of metal pen bodies from Tactile Turn, Autmog and Machine Era. I have some reviews on several of their different options. The most important thing is that the pen body is compatible with Pilot G2 cartridges (those are nearly identical to FriXion cartridges) ✌️

Thanks for this review. Now I want to buy the Pro and return the Everlast/Core that I haven't opened yet. One question, though: What's the difference between using a Rocketbook with the Rockebook app and using a regular notebook with a scanner app such as PenToPrint or Adobe Scan? Is the draw that you don't need to buy notebooks as often? Or is there some other benefit?

The FriXion ink cartridges are the same size as Pilot’s G2 pens, so you can swap it into some of the TT pen bodies. But you still can only use FriXion ink.

PDF or text file, but not word. The text options are made using the OCR transcription (I have a video on this), which is unformatted✌️

Thanks Rebecca, I’m glad you like the video. You can only use Pilot FriXion ink with Rocketbooks, but the FriXion cartridges fit any pen that could hold a Pilot G2 (non-erasable) cartridge. The ones I’ve used (and reviewed) are from Tactile Turn, Autmog and Machine Era 👍

This is a solution looking for a problem. They actually destroyed their own business model. On their website, they let you download printable PDFs of their sheets, so I did, I put them in a binder and am ready to go. No one needs to really sponge off a page to reuse. I scan my written pages with the rocket app, put my writings in electronic folders, use whatever pen I like, and the written sheets? I either keep them or trash them. The Frixxion pens are not very good writing tools. And you have to buy them specially. No need for that. I use whatever pen I got handy, and I'm in business.

Considering the cost of printer ink, I prefer having a quickly erasable series of pages. I’ve drawn templates on the pages for storyboarding with sharpies. I get wanting regular paper but it’s not worth it to me to deal with the paper and ink cost.

Got one after watching your video. My weekly plan page became impossible to write on. Ink just wouldn't stick to the page. When it did, it was spotty and faded. When I reached out to support, I was told the coating had been worn off, but since it was caused by wear, they couldn't do anything other than offer a 15% discount (looking at the pinned comment on your video, that was laughable). Why the heck would I want more of a endlessly reusable notebook that doesn't last. I had it for two months, used it throughout the week, wiped it with the provided cloth and water at the end of the week, repeat. I went all in and bought the pro, with an add-on page pack, better frixion pens and highlighter. I want to like it, but this has completely soured my experience.

Wow, I’m very surprised to hear that - both that the page is being funny like that, and their response. I’m sorry that you’ve had such a bad experience with it. Did you use the FriXion eraser? Or anything else other than water and the microfibre cloth on the pages? I have books that are over a year old that show some staining, but still write well, so this doesn’t sound at all like normal wear and tear based on my experiences… 🙁

Lotion did this to mine.I put some 70% isopropyl alcohol on the affected area, let it sit a couple minutes, then gently wiped it off. It mostly worked. It could also be the pen you use, check if it's empty/shows up on other paper well. Hot cars will make the ink invisible, put it in the freezer to fix.
