Pricing is so weird. In Southeast Asia, you can get the XM5 for only around $200 while the airpods pro 2 is exorbitantly priced at around $300.

i noticed that reviewers almost always say that if you are in the apple ecosystem, the airpods are a no brainer but never if you are using android the airpods are not an option

Not sure what you mean? AirPods are an option if you use Android, just not the best because you’re limiting yourself based on codecs

@@CursedSabbath. sort of, iPhone codecs are limited so no matter which buds you use then the quality is constrained (unlike on Android). But if you’re not an audiophile you probably won’t notice, and in that case, it makes AirPods one of the best options for most people due to ease of use, ecosystem and battery life etc. That doesn’t mean AirPods sound the best with iPhones. XM5s sound better, but they’ll sound even better on an Android (provided you’re using a music streaming service that can use hi-def audio - Spotify doesn’t at this time). Hope that makes sense?

Its not just the sound quality, most meatures, mostly ALL don't work with Android and the microphone doesn't work properly. Its the same the other way around if it's a bud from a phone company. Apple users should Stay with their ecosystem because testing other devices in combination with iphone will make them think everything outside Apple is worse. It feels like Apple does so on purpose.

Sony case also charges in 1 hour. It has fast charging you are biased and not using a fast charger. Sony fits more snugly.

I have the USB-C AirPods Pro 2 and the older Sony wf-1000xm4, and because of the slimmer and glossy case, AirPods just fit way more comfortably than Sony

Not 100% sure what you’re asking but I think the Sony MX5s are really solid if you don’t want AirPods Pro. Ultimately a lot of it will come down to fit though so worth trying a few different models and see which you prefer. Hope that helps?

I have 3 pairs of Airpods Pro so that I am never without a pair on me. I use them extensively and love them. But I still got a pair of M5 to use exclusively with my Walkman zx707 and love the sound profile.

With AirPods Pro2, they tend to slip out of my ears after wearing them for sometime. So I was thinking of going for Sony only if they would stay in- but not sure if they would as the oily skin would make them slip out too perhaps ?

AirPods are useless for staying in my ear. They’re only useful for sitting the house, in the gym I have to adjust them a million times as they’re constantly slipping out.

However I use more the AirPods for workout since the controls are sweat resistant, Sony’s sometimes if I get too sweaty would have “ghost touch” or simply won’t work at all

My XM5s must be defective because the ANC is totally ineffective. Apparently, I am not the only one coming to that conclusion. AirPods Pro 2 all the way!

@@ThoughtsOnThings I had difficulties keeping the seal. I got an excellent result with Comply TrueGrip Premium tips. ANC and sound got better, and the seal and comfort is close to perfect.

I have both and the XM5s ANC are fat better than the airpods pro's one... also better sound. Airpods are better for work tho, they have better transparency mode

I have both, and at least on software integration, of course AirPods are better since you don’t need a 3rd party app to setup + you have Find My Support on both earbuds and case. However, the Sony App its just fine to set them up, and the customization for your sound is way ahead than AirPods

Interesting that most review videos I've seen on youtube seem to rate the Sony buds higher than the Airpods pro but the Airpods have better reviews on Amazon. 4.6 against 4.1. Confused!

If you’re looking at US Amazon that might explain it. iPhones dominate in the US market, so majority of reviews for the Sonys will be pairing with iPhones (I’d imagine) and in that context they’re not as good as APP. So that might be skewing the scores slightly! Who knows.. either way they are both very decent buds 👌

The most important qualities for me are comfort, sound quality, ANC and battery life which means Im leaning towards the Sony's currently. But no doubt I will look at more reviews today and be back to the airpods! 😂

Had three pairs of it, luckily the first two where freely replaced but the 3rd one I had to do it myself because of the ran out warranty. Bought my AirPods last month and I use them extensively for calls and workout, so we’ll see how they age

Sony is the worse earbud i bought on 03.28.2024. It doenst fit well and when i am on call,person on the other side can not hear me well with Active noise cancellation. I am returning mine. Will stick with Samsung buds pro.
