The big reveal! I'm looking forward to other competitors coming to market. Standing desks used to be so expensive so I'm sure this style will come down in price in a few years.
@ThoughtworthyCoАй бұрын
Probably! Although it'll depend on whether the demand is there, as it's quite a niche product.

I am from Canada, I was also looking for a desk like this. I don't mind the price of the desk, but shipping costs $400+ for me. Well, I guess I'll have to wait for a Canadian company.

your channel helped me visualize and change over to a floor life which i've had for years now. my desk is 1. laying down, computer on the floor 2. sitting up on the floor, computer balanced on trashcan 3. standing, computer sitting on trashcan sitting on two ikea shelves turned sideways, stacked, which i used for storage, and the stop serves as a countertop or bench i switch in between these three bases during the day, i move into different positions constantly in the laying and sitting positions. thanks for all your inspiration!

Very interesting system! Glad to be of help 🙏

I love it but $1000 is a little too steep for my budget….even after the discount. My retrofitted IKEA table will have to work for a while. Thanks for posting this video series. Sitting on the floor and really helped my lower back and stiff hamstrings.

What a coincidence, I saw your flood desk video 4 days ago. And after some research came across uppeal desk as the only option for a floor to standing desk, and here I am seeing your review for it. What a small world. But the desk is still too costly for me, I am still trying to look for options
@ThoughtworthyCoАй бұрын
Totally understand, it's not cheap at all. If we can think of any affordable options/ideas, we'll make sure to feature them in our videos :)

I had the same idea, but I couldn't find anywhere to buy it in my region. It looks really great
@patli3408Ай бұрын
Great desk, best of both worlds, you can go low to floor sitting height And then right up to standing work. Really good that it is adaptable to your personal liking. I have a Ikea non height adjustable desk, and wish to upgrade to this, but I dont have the budget right now😢. Envy both of you❤
@MiPo3333Ай бұрын
Would you be able to test the stability with two monitors and a stand for a heavy laptop? That's my setup on my regular adjustable office desk. I guess it should work on this table too? And thanks for the video! Loved the intro too - a perfect gesture and the pick of this aria, that's how I felt too as I saw your video title and realised a table like this exists.🎉 Worth saving up for, even given the EU shipping and customs fees
@ThoughtworthyCoАй бұрын
Unfortunately we don't have all the equipment to test that out, but we don't think it would be an issue unless you're using it at max height and very sensitive to desk wobble (but that would also rule out most standing desks). Do note that, as far as we understand, a heavier setup may make the desk travel slightly slower! Hope that helps :)

I really want to get it, but to Norway the shipping was a whopping $402.85 (and that's for the frame only, no tabletop!). At that price I will have to be really sure so I will wait 6 months to resist this being an impulse purchase.
@ThoughtworthyCoАй бұрын
Makes sense! Waiting 6 months to be sure of the purchase sounds wise 👍
@Julien-rc1bi20 күн бұрын
I'm in the same camp. And it's not accounting for the import tax which will add 25% more cost. And most probably no custom support if the frame motor has issue.
@SoreBrainАй бұрын
Watching this from my non floor reaching standing desk with jealously. Buying a standing desk was decision I didn't regret once over 2 years. The only downside I see is the lost storage space below the desk and the opportunity to mount my desktop pc under.

I really want one but I’m in the UK and after £200+ delivery there would also be import taxes. Hopefully they’re successful and launch here.

I always view a desk as a lifetime thing as long as I don't abuse it. This desk although amazing, definitely isn't going to last my lifetime, there are just too many points of failure and moving parts when compared to a regular desk If the desk was way cheaper then I'll consider it, since if it breaks I have the peace of mind that I can comfortably replace it, even without the 10 years warranty
@ThoughtworthyCoАй бұрын
Yeah, unfortunately with electrical components, a standing desk will certainly not be a purchase to last a lifetime!

2:24 Looks like it raises your shoulders in the seating position, which is going to cause long term shoulder inflamation and neck pain. I have the same issue with my ikea standing desk it's not going low enough.
@ThoughtworthyCoАй бұрын
If you're referring to the picture on the Kickstarter page, that is probably an early version of the desk. Uppeal says they're at their sixth iteration now. With a reasonably sized cushion, we think the desks' height is perfectly fine.
@kyleadammasonАй бұрын
I'm hoping they find a way to go a little lower, I've been interested for a while. Still too high for me with my long arms. I have thought about getting a base and custom making the top so the front edge is lower since I don't like keyboard trays. Glad to hear you like them overall.

I have been following Uppeal since the kickstarter. I could adjust to the 42cm minimum height (I prefer 30cm minimum), but the size of the desktop was a non-starter for me (121cm/48"), preferring 80-100cm width (single monitor with MacBook in front). I have emailed Greg (the founder) a few times who has been excellent at answering my questions. He mentioned that the minimum width for custom desktop is 43" (109cm). Great to hear that they are working on reducing the minimum height, and hoping to see smaller options. Though based on how long it took from KickStarter to shipping desks, this is a difficult engineering challenge!
@ThoughtworthyCoАй бұрын
It would be seriously impressive if they manage to get it down to 30cm! But that would likely require a totally different design and structure.

Sweet to hear Lakmé's flower duet here. I'm 187 centimeters tall, which is average in my country. I wonder how long it will take for the desk to move from the lowest to the highest setting and vice versa. By the look of it the display shows the height in inches. Is there a setting for centimeters as well.
@ThoughtworthyCoАй бұрын
Yes, we actually have one desk set to centimeters and another in inches. You can see both in this video! It takes roughly 21s to go from lowest to highest, but the speed may vary depending on how much weight is on the desk :)
@freerkderuiter8822Ай бұрын
Thank you, I must have missed the centimeters setting 😉

I bought a flexispot earlier this year (which was a reach for my budget) and didn’t regret getting a standing desk. But I felt like I was settling instead of pampering myself! You appear to be on the right track. However, while your intention to move more and to free yourself from the computer screen is admirable, you still appear to be physically tied to it, and to be heavily dependent upon it and controlled by it. I am a futurist and a novelist so you might think that I spend a good bit of time in front of a computer. The reality is probably less time than you might imagine. Why? Because I dictate most of what I write. Typing, reading and editing is what ties you to the computer screen. Dictation, is the key to my freedom because it allows me to move and to be somewhere else other than standing in front of my computer whilst I am dictating. Once I have accumulated a significant amount of dictated text (which is downloaded automatically to my computer and backed up on the cloud), then, regrettably, I have to be in front of my computer to read and edit what I have dictated. Like you, I also have a standing desk that also can retract to a low position and I do use it - but only when I am editing. Unlike yours, my home office is multifunctional. It is also a gym, a recording studio, and an art studio, so I take frequent breaks while editing to exercise (by performing functional movements - mainly floor exercises, calisthenics, or martial arts), or to sing or to paint. I am also a maker, if I need a longer break, I can work on a project in my adjacent maker space shop. I am also a horticulturist and a runner, so I can work in my garden or go for a long run in the forest adjacent to where I live. All of these activities are not just hobbies, they all make money as well. Collectively, quite a bit of money. That is the trick. Work as little as possible for someone else and as much as possible for yourself and have multiple money making capabilities so that you are never placing all your eggs in one basket and are never dependent upon anyone or anything for your survival. In that way, you are running your life rather than your computer, your boss, the company you work for, or the government running you! Because you and not they are in control, you can take as many breaks to incorporate physical activity into your life as you require. Exercising, lifting and manipulating construction equipment, and gardening are a far better, more effective and more productive use of your time than changing your position from standing to sitting while still remaining tied to your computer screen. I hope that these suggestions help you to live a better life.
