My great uncle lost his eye in ww2 driving an officer in a Jeep. They took a mortar round and flipped... the officer didnt make it and Bill lost his eye. When I was about 5, I met him. Not knowing the story, i asked him why he always kept one eye closed. He said, "I sleep in this eye half the day and switch the second half. That way i can stay up all the time." I tried to do that for a long time before asking my dad how uncle Bill did that. He just laughed and then proceeded to tell me the real story. I met the man once, at 5 years old, and I will remember him forever. Legend.

pfft. guy was a useless lush for the first few decades of his life. then he gets shot every time and spends most of the remaining time in hospital. the only period of his life that was filled with courage and determination would be ww1. then after that back to being a lush, and prisoner. i tell you, all you need is to be known by the elites to and smooj your way into luxury. unearned and uninteresting. however, as a whole, his life was not uneventful... and worth a few minutes of my time (i watched at triple speed). yeah, thats right, if i'm not going to worship gods, you can bet your arse i'm not going to 'ooh and ah' over a person, especially when most of their life is spent so idly.

This particular thumbnail wouldn't be particularly complicated to make without AI though, it's VERY basic. And T2 already uses art in his videos, I don't think it would harm it for the thumbnails to also be done by a person. Heck, it's so simple, he could do it himself with a few license free stock photos and a copy of GIMP2 (I say this in part because GIMP2 costs nothing). Heck, I'm sure there's editing software on phones that could pull this off.

If I may be so bold as to offer you a soldier from lets say 250 years ago who was pretty unkillable and she was a female soldier. Marie-Therese Figueur. She served in the French Revolutionary Army and The Grand Armee for 22 years. She was known as an extremely tough woman and despite being wounded several times and having several horses shot out from under her she went on to live a long life. Lets not forget being take prisoner of war a few times. An incredible lady who is often overlooked when it comes to great warriors.

I wanna hear more about this person now. I doubt Arran will cover her though, he's very England/British-Centric. ACdW counts because despite being Belgian, as far as any British snob would claim, the fact he lived and fought for the British, that makes him essentially British - despite fighting for many other countries as part of other armies, and having spent his actual retirement in Ireland, in Cork where he's buried.

5:10 If you've never heard of the English public school boy game 'Soggy biscuit' under NO circumstances should you google it. Especially if you're eating. Don't say I didn't warn you!😁🤢🤮🤮🤮 This is (alleged) the sort of Thing Boris Johnson, David Cameron and Nigel Farage used to get up to at expensive public* schools Eton & Dulwich College. Which explains a lot.🤔😐 *For any non-Brits public' schools are expensive private schools. NOT state schools. They're called public schools because these early schools were set up by members of the public, not the government, long before education was compulsory and when usually it was only available to the children of the rich.

As someone who went to a boarding school, I can confirm that this was as much of a myth to boarders as it is to the rest of the public. Aso, people who go to boarding schools are **shocking** normal, not depraved deviants, as you seem to think 😝😝

Brilliant. Thanks Aaron.. First time comment. But follow your channel avidly. Fascinated to know where you dig up all these mainstream-once-removed stories. You’d of thought someone like Sir Adrian would be a household name in Britain. Or at least some form of recognition. It’s a symptom of the way war is quickly swept under the carpet once it’s over and those who risked everything along with it.
