There's so much around the theme of sun in this series. Thousand sunny, Luffy's home is dawn island, first arc was romance dawn, Skypeia had the drums of liberation and the ritual of an ancient forgotten god alongside it, Moria had to be defeated at dawn, Pedro said that luffy will bring the dawn, the entirety of whitebeards final words. It probably wasn't planned from the start but the concept around Luffy and the sun was definitely one of the core ideas and more got added onto that. JoyBoy may have also been an early idea but was more fleshed out later along with the story, I don't think it's necessarily foreshadowing but absolutely amazing worldbuilding around a solid core idea.
