I thought that with a line that long there would be a kind of wave going down the line, but the front and back seemed to be exactly the same time.

@@alfjones9081 Hi Alf, it's a lifetime ago since I saw the Citadel , or indeed have been to Plymouth , I was in 42 Commando at Bickleigh Barracks, and the Citadel was The H.Q. of 29 Commando Regiment R.A. I live way up North and I doubt if I will ever go there again, but best wishes to you.

Wow, very good drill! All in step and so damn sharp! What a proud bunch of troops! From Canada, I salute you brave soldiers.. Carrying on a long tradition for the Proud British military. In the War of 1812, many redcoats from Britain died fighting for the freedom of Canada, which did not exists at the time... If not for these brave British soldiers, Canada might have been another United State. The Native American warriors under Tecumseh also did thier part. To both parties, I thankyou!

They join up young, wet behind the ears and 5.2 tall. Give it a year and the are over 6ft and strapping! I dont know what they put in their porridge but it sure does the job! Ive seen it with my own mince pies. Didnt they look great? They are so smart and in step. Well trained. Makes me proud.

My son toured Afghanistan in 2013 with 8/9 RAR, due to the government not wanting to upset the Muslims ( then a labour gov ) their march in parade was cancelled and a very very ordinary march in at Enoggera barracks was substituted. I hope for the sake of future generations you will never allow it to happen there.

I am sitting waiting for the new year of 2012 planning a nice family get together for new years day not worrying about secret police turning up at the door not frightened,spending too much money saying what ever the hell I choose all because of the bravery and courage of people like those in the video .When next you pass a war memorial remember what life could have been like if not for those willing to defend the right they do not fight for glory but for liberty and I for one am grateful.

I don't feel the need to nor will I defend myself on my comments. They were in response to a sniveling, cowardly comment about our soldiers and I won't tolerate that garbage. America's soldiers over the centuries have shown some of the finest displays of bravery ever, and often for people and in countries not their own. The politics of America's conflicts aside, her soldier's heroism is unquestioned. Bottom line is - I didn't come watch this video to insult your fighting men, DON'T INSULT OURS.
@JH-ck1nr2 жыл бұрын
Well said and totally true. Bravery knows no country or politics, it is an individual thing and to stand side by side with your mates. All are heroes.
@philipnorris65424 ай бұрын
I don't know who it was made the comment about the American soldiers, but I stand with you wholeheartedly in your condemnation; I am British, and our two beautiful lands stand side by side---may they always do so.

I wish some people in the coments would understand the Royal Marines are part of the Royal Navy and not the British Army. These men are based just outside of Plymouth 42 or Four Two Commando .The history of the Royal Marines dates back to 1664 and they just celebrated their 359th anniversary. The Royal Marines and the Navy have always played a part in the history of Plymouth.

im british and I was wondering why is there no black marines in the british army marching in that welcoming home. does Plymouth have no black people or anything, I am white
@subrosa770810 жыл бұрын
I saw two blacks in one minute. Maybe you are colourblind or you have some kind of race issue? ;-)
@user-wh5ij6oh4s10 жыл бұрын
I just noticed a lack of black people how does saying the word black make me a racist haha

InSebption Race issue does not mean just racism. It can olso mean opposite!
@landshippirate704410 жыл бұрын
also no disrespect brother but marines are navy lad not army :P
@motorvating10 жыл бұрын
Anybody can join as long as they meet the criteria, so if there are few ethnics in the Marines that will be their choice. Many of the black people in the British military don't live in the UK as they come from commonwealth countries. My experience is that as a %, more white British join the forces then the other races who are British, and I think that is down to a cultural history.
