I served together with this Regiment, namely, the 3rd East Anglians as part of the Far East Land Forces Brigade Group at Terendak Garrison, Malacca Malaysia, during 1961/1963. The Brigade was comprised of British, Australian and New Zealand infantry Battalions, the latter of which i was a member. @@elisebrummert1225 The ones to feel sad about are the attachments, especially the ones from the Individual Ready Reserve. Far too many IRR soldiers ignored the call up, but the ones that showed up did a great job. My National Guard unit was able to field 6 radar sections instead of 5 because of agumentation from the IRR, but these are individuals called up from towns across the country. They may be the only one deploying from that area. They get no send off, no welcome, and their families have no formal support structure. We had one from rural Wisconsin and another from Phoenix. When they had admin problems , we tried to help them, but from a thousand or more miles away, it is not easy.
@keithorbell95004 жыл бұрын
lindowan123 Coldstream Guards are not Scottish, they are the only one of the five Guards Infantry regiments that recruits from specific parts of the UK. It's recruiting area follows the route taken by the original regiment under the command of General Monck from Coldstream in the Scottish Borders to London immediately prior to the restoration of the Monarchy. The other four, even though three (Scots, Irish and Welsh) have national ties with Scotland, Ireland and Wales respectively recruit throughout the Commonwealth of Nations.
