Inside these rocks, are THOUSANDS of fossils!
These amazing crinoid packed fossils are from Michigan and were sent to me from Dutch, thanks Dutch! Fossil Soup has become one of my favorite fossils to cut open, I truly love seeing the crinoid stems inside and polishing them is very enjoyable!

Have you ever thought about trying the liquid super Gluck? Kind of stuff that's really, really thin like water and it doesn't leave anything behind it, just puts a real thin layer in between cracks and holds it together. Have you ever thought about using that?

Your fossil soup is almost all crinoids, just the different parts of the creatures. My grandmother, the rock hound, used to take us out to an area where there were millions of the loose pieces, and showed us how they all fit together.

Hmmm. I don't think I care much for fossil soup stones, even though I know what they're made of and have one of the coolest names ever. Your green one was interesting for the tiny bits of red inclusions. I like the pale interior one for the rim staining. It looks like the stain soaked in. I'm impressed you were able to cut that first thin one.

Most Crinoids are about 400 million years old and predate dinos by about 350 million let alone the "great flood" that happened about 13 thousand years ago. The sea beds were littered with the remnants of these critters. Since nothing really disturbed them, they just piled up and got covered by silt.

So much to look at. I love them! New at cutting, I need to pay attention and figure a way to detain the water coming out onto my work bench. My HiTech does back up to something. Your towel idea across the back really keeps the splash down. So you like green rocks? I’ve been finding some interesting green ones in a little creek behind my grocery store here in northern VA. I’m also finding something specific to this area I’ll send along also. 😊 And thank you Dutch. Cool finds where you are!
