I've been living in my truck for 6 yrs.I save the majority of my money and put in Roth and traditional ira's, Solo 401k, and HSA as well as an individual brokerage account. I love not having bills and being able to invest for retirement. Living in the truck has its ups and downs, but I like getting paid to see the country, and when I take off time from driving, I leave the country and travel the rest of the world. By not having any bills, I was able to leave the country 4 times last year. Yeah, I'd take nomad life any day of the week as a single guy with non kids.

Personally: If you want to be a nomad (I do). Invest in gold / silver, sell the truck, and be a company driver. You’ll have the gold investment as a safety net and some cash on hand from selling the truck. As a company driver no stress of insurance, fuel, maintenance, etc..

I was a very proud nomad for 2 years. It was an EXCELLENT life. Once the market collapsed this year there was no more financial gain worth living over the road. I got all of my stuff out of storage and moved in with my boyfriend. I still drive, but having a safe refuge is awesome.

Personally if I was going to not have a home and live on the road, I would definitely get a super sleeper. Then you have space to spread out on your 34, you can make a nice home cooked meal, you can have your own personal shower and toilet.

You don't know how many times I thought about going over the road and just stacking money, you will have NO bills, work for a company, free wifi in the truck, maybe you have a phone bill, that's about it. I would NOT buy a tractor, just work for a company that's has free wifi, satellite TV (if you watch TV, I dont), some will pay your phone, what else do you really need? Get rid of your car, so no payments or car insurance, no rent or mortgage, no utilities. Get gym memberships for showers plus the truck stop showers, get an air fryer, microwave, electric grill and run an extension cord and grill in a parking lot, or a propane camping grill, just be open minded, you can do anything on the road or in a truck you can do at home

I would suggest not using your own equipment. Keep your truck and trailer idle. Find a half way decent company that will cover "YOU" then stay on the truck. To each his & her own. I respect what you are doing and I tip my hat to that and to you. Measure what you actually want to do verses the companies out here. Dedicated, regional, super regional, Extended lanes with stops, short hauls, Reefer, dry, flat, OTR. Their truck their trailer and build to yours as you travel while making and saving. They will let you stay "live" on the truck. When my wife died we lost everything. Her car, property home and I said to heck with it and got back on the road. For me (me only) local haul did not pay. She was my life and my team driver. We made bank. We did it however on someone else's equipment. I live on the road now and owe her for The Matrimony we guaranteed each other. The highway is my home and the truck is my tent. I set it up one time and the dotted line takes me wherever. I do not use that as an excuse to blow my (our) money in theme parks, cruises, casino's, adventure parks. I stay true to what My wife and I wanted. The company takes care of the rest. Two weeks on and 2-3 days off just don't cut the mustard. I can work the local library for the average money that would be. I know exactly what you feel and what you are looking at. Its tough. My friends? I look down at the end of my bunk and count my toes and they twinkle back. Trust and confidence are your best friends is my point. This is just me and to everyone their own. I have a bud near where we lived to keep my CDL honest and to collect my mail in a garbage bag...whenever I come back that way. Its been almost a year now. 4 months before that. When she died I was devastated. It ripped me apart. My road time is spent in my tent (company truck) rolling to the destinations we wanted to go and that she wanted to see. I refuse to stop because she is owed that while I am here. Yours may not be anything like my course in this. But mathematically there may be something here you can use to keep you straight. I'm not a grand wizard at any of this but self-respect, dignity, integrity and bearing...Bearing will keep your decisions honest for you and your outlook. Wish You The Best.

I have been driving 33+ yrs OTR and an O/O since 2004. I did something similar in 2016. I regret it deeply and I didn’t even use the money from the sale to by a new truck since I a bought one new 23 months earlier. I don’t recommend it!!! A house appreciates, trucks depreciate. Nothing more risky than spending it on a truck. If you are against stocks, you should reconsider however I think I would either have rented out my house instead of selling or use some of that money to buy a couple of rental properties. Let your renters cover your House payments.

If it were me & i was thinking of living in my truck year-round, i personally would invest some of that money in stocks/bonds/minerals (like gold, silver, oil/gas) and then go with either a KW W900 with a sofa-bed, or upgrade to a super-sleeper. Then try to get a couple contracts with his favorite shippers & receivers.

What I would do is buy my retirement land. Put a small storage building on it so I do not have to rent storage. Buy parts for my truck for maintenance. Then put the rest of my money in an IRA and stack the rest of my cash.

To change the fuel efficiency implusion And pollution control on these big trucks. They're warning us in a Events. There's going to be a big change in everything. That's trucking. I keep doing these second comments but right here this may be some further points to ponder. At 69 bucks a day i make my living allowance back penny for penny as if my truck is still on the road. Save the receipts and at the end of the year the tax man gives it all back penny for penny company driver, lease or your O/O. Its "your" money you are spending while on the road. Your position as "driving" OR "on the road" directly involved with your profession is key here. If you truly have 200k plus then I would suggest to never go below that mark. Let that be your low-end benchmark. Year by year increase that benchmark. Why waste it on the offhand chance another driver is going to back into your nose cap or pull out and take it clean off. Another check engine light. Another starter. Another turbo. Another full ECM check. DPF Kit? Work to those things for your own truck while it sits, if you want to use your own truck. Another set of mirrors? Virgin rubber? Brake booster, air bags? Get an AP Unit, maybe? Month by month by month. Save as you build up. Never go below your benchmark, gradually raise it. Simple percentage points on savings and or your EIN (Contractor #) business account can seriously help with this. Let someone else buy the fuel and pay the insurance for a change. Let someone else pay for all of the quarterly inspections, DOT's and IFTA's. Let someone else pay for the EZ Pass. 20 bucks 4000-6000 a month may not be much but for all of this at 200k and then a flat tire that rips your mud flap and hanger off and then wraps an axle? Just me. Maybe the new nest egg has the answer that don't need to be squandered. Good luck to your future bro.

Buy land! You will avoid taxes. And some gold and silver but don’t forget there was a time in the US history when gold and silver was seized from the citizens by government. Get a good honest realtor that specializes on land sales to do the proper research on zoning, you want to know and you want to have all the rights on that land. First thing you should’ve never sold your house you should’ve went and got money on the house you would have gotten 200,000 or more. I would take 30 grand and by six trailers rent those out for the time being make up to six to $800 a month I would take another 20 grand and buy a piece of land and use the land as a storage area for trailers. Buying a truck in this economy would be hard to get up and running. The best do what your doing now and invest in a bank . What I would say don't carry 200k in cash. Because you get pulled over your lose it to something called civil asset forfeiture. Then you will have to hire a lawyer to prove the money is innocent. Lehto law did many videos on, and the institute for justice is fighting to stop civil asset forfeiture. Anyways be safe lots of crazy people out there.

Why not put your money in a CD? You can get 6 month terms at 5% annual so with $200k would give you $5,000 every 6 months. The down side is your money is locked up for 6 months but big deal. Money markets are paying 4% or better which isn't bad. Alex's idea of going with Capital One for 3.75% is too conservative. You're giving up the 1.25% for no reason.

I wouldn't pay any tax money to am illegitimate government, that stole an election, tried to poison it's people through COVID - 19, and train derailments near small towns, unchecked attempts to take away our Constitutional Rights. Keep that money in a businesses account build business credit and personal credit and than apply for 500k business loan. Take 300k and invest into a small hotel or a 6 to 7 unit apartment complex.
