Thranda Cessna C208 Caravan Taxi and Takeoff

Today we're going through the taxi and takeoff procedures in the Thranda Cessna C208 Caravan for X-Plane 11. I'll walk you through the checklists and procedures, as well as flying the airplane.
Use of beta range is important during taxi. This can be assigned to X-Plane's default command "sim/engines/beta_toggle". We also go through all of the pre-flight checks, including de-icing system, standby alternator system, etc.

From flying that plane in real life I'd say flap retraction gives way more pitch down effect, so you have to pitch up yoke until trim goes to correct position. Project is looking great so far, good job 🙂👍

I’m a real world GA pilot and mostly fly airliners in the sim, but decided to pick up the Caravan on day one and ended up getting the DHC2 at the same time. They are both amazing and a blast to fly. I love the quirks of the Beaver. The Caravan is like flying a really big Cessna 182, but I’ve always enjoyed flying them.

Well well, it seems like one more thranda bird will be in my fleet!!! You are absolutely the best of the best!! Any chance to be loading a video with the incorrect hot start up procedure and the damage results in the engine if you do not follow the propper way? Take care of yourself my friend!!.

Very nice, much more accurate than the Carenado offering. I do have a question: I have about 400 hours flying the King Air C90B. With that airplane we never take off with the inertial separators in bypass unless it's absolutely necessary because of runway contamination or icing conditions. We start up and taxi with them in bypass to help eliminate any possibility of foreign object damage, but we virtually always put them to normal just before taking the runway for departure so maximum torque is available. Is taking off in the Caravan with it in bypass a normal thing?

It seems to vary per operator. Some companies prefer to always have it open for takeoff to reduce compressor blade erosion from dust, etc. But in other cases such as warm weather and operating from short fields you might need the extra power with it closed. So it depends.

Hi Joseph ! Caravan Pilot here. We have in our fleet the 600hp 675hp and EX 867hp, all variants use 1750 + - 60 to test the governor test. Is that correct in the manual that you take that information? In your checks you use 1650 rpm.

Hello, yes, the real Caravan's overspeed governor test is 1,750 RPM. However X-Plane's overspeed governor test is 1,650, and isn't a value that can be adjusted.

Did anyone have a not so pleasant experience dealing with X-Plane 11 forum? It seems that if you post a question in the wrong area you get a curt message that you should not do that. Also, I have found out that some of the members are a bit curt and a bit abrupt in their answers and they make you feel small. I don't know what is with these people? Is it that some of them have a problem and feel superior? Not very pleased with some of these folks. It must be the military in them.
