@@LordLuc94 yes. Dope band. Plus I love the Lovecraft references. However after watching the bands rise and fall I realize that talent and skill are not enough. Marketing and setting up an event that would center the band and its importance on the world stage is also crucial. He made a few claims in interviews after this video was published suggesting that he loses more money from performing music via travel and business expenses than he makes. This highlights the need of every band to take music business as important as the music itself

Can someone explain how playing e aeolian over a gives you dorian?
@GuitarGodsUnite10 жыл бұрын
E aeolian is the sixth mode of G major, the second mode of G major is A dorian
@xaptronic8 жыл бұрын
Same notes but in a different order: E aeolian - E F# G A B C D A dorian - A B C D E F# G When you play the scale, it doesn't matter what note you start on - what matters is what the root is, or what root is implied. If you have an A root and play E aeolian then you're really playing A dorian starting on E.

How do you find the characteristic notes? Is there a formula or something or just by ear?
@alexsharp34818 жыл бұрын
it's just a note that stands out. in Lydian I believe it is the 4th note of that mode. playing around is the only way to find that characteristic note
@xaptronic8 жыл бұрын
You can start out by comparing to the major scale or natural minor. E.g.; In this example he's comparing dorian to natural minor: Natural minor has a minor third, making it a minor tonality and a minor 6th, giving it the darker sound. Dorian has minor 3rd and a major sixth. So when you are playing in a minor key, you can take the notes that are different between it and another scal, ie; the major sixth and use them to accentuate the sound of the scale. E.g.; 2 - Lydian vs Major: Major has a perfect forth, where as Lydian has an augmented (or sharp) forth. This way of looking at scales can be used for any scale really.. look at what kind of interval a particular note is relative to the root. Minor 2 or Major 2, Minor 3 or Major 3, Perfect 4 or Augmented 4, Diminished fifth or Perfect 5th etc. In terms of sound, the goal is to be able to recognize the sound of a particular scale in the same way you know the difference between different colors. Hope that helps.

There are some other weird minor modes (aeolian b5, dorian b 2, dorian #4) but they're a bitch to tonally incorporate, even in jazz tunes!
