😂❤. Yes it is truly amazing.. I remember watching this part ten times, downloading the track on Limewire… uploading it to my iPod shuffle and going out skating for 9-10 hours… everyday… all summer long. This was what skateboarding looked like to me 🎉

In my little corner of the world, it's still 1992 - I've got the baggy pants, the slow moving, low to the ground skating, the (switch) nosesliding tricks and hardly anyone to skate with, because mine is a tracksuit 'n scooter dominated yob town. And lest anyone call me 'hipster', I'm not - I'm just old, bust still love skateboarding. My way. Big ups to Rick and all the OG skate heads.

Dude, I decided to sneak into my old high school by myself to skate it at night. I hadn’t been there or skated in 32 years. I couldn’t believe the balls I had as a 12 year old. I was scared shitless when I returned but it was an epic blast from the past.
@fatbench11 жыл бұрын
What's great about this part is that it provides the historical context that allows skaters like myself to appreciate skateboarding for what it truly is, an artistic movement. It's easy to lose sight of that today, but in this video you can see what was really going on in that era: guys on skateboards trying to create something original. Art. This was before there was big money to be made so the drive was still pure, and that's what comes shining through in this video part.

Even looking back at this video in 2013 the line he nails from 1:17 - 1:37 is absolutely incredible! In fact, I think it may have been the biggest tech combo up and down stairs for it's era by far. Rick Howard is all about grace and precision.

I bought the VHS plan b boxset on ebay when i was 12, Im 22 now and this still hypes me WAY more than todays vids. My friends used to make fun of this, but those whimps quit skating and i still do. Its not about perfection. Any self respecting skater should appreciate this and take notes.

A four minute part filmed in less than a year so yeah, there will be some not perfect footage. You know what though? We didn't care. This freaking vid blew our minds. Think about it. Boards were heavy(9.5" was a normal size), pants were phat and all these tricks were new. The camera probably weighed 15 - 20lbs so you aren't going to be rolling around with one hand out squatted way down, VX style so quit bitchin about that too.

It's weird making excuses for this part but the little kids need to learn: This is the best skateboarding had to offer in 1992. If you can't respect that, then you won't respect the best skating of today in 25 years. This leads me to the question if you guys really care about skateboarding at all. Parts and styles like these stand the test of time, because they are pure, beautiful and influential. Rethink how you think about skating if you REALLY hate on this man and this part.

@rebusd7 жыл бұрын
No doubt man, that was an _excellent_ comment. There is so much contextual myopia on YT regarding skating that it makes me groan sometimes. A lot of kids here don't realize that if they were around back when this was shot, they wouldn't even be skating; they would be playing little league or hackey-sack or something. Although as far as no one being clean, I think Koston and Peterka were among the first to emerge from sketchland. It's kind of a shame that H-Street disintegrated so quickly after their 1990 summer tour - although EK has obviously made ends meet like a mofo, imagine a Rocco-then-Ternasky-then-Howard supported DP (who I think at the time was the better skater, IMHO) making it to the money times instead of being forced to go to a day job. I like to contrast him to the Shecklers of the world, no disrespect to RS intended...

I think there’s an authenticity to it that is lacking now. And that’s coming from someone who his entire filming life would do a trick over and over and over until he got it perfect.

think about how much of this stuff hadn't been done at that time. to us it just seems standard to frontside noseslide a 6 stair hubba or front shove the gonz, but it had to take some seriously unique minds to go out and do it. like danny way's tricks in this video, to boardslide that double kink had to seem impossible. like something that would be sweet, but no one would actually ever try it with the intention of landing it. but he did.

Could the guy doing the intro be less informed about the Questionable video? That's one of the most defining videos in skateboard history. This broke the new era of technical street skating, and not much in skating has changed since this video came out. It was huge back in 92, this progressed the sport and none of us had seen a lot of the tricks they're doing, and many of which had just been invented.
