Thread Milling in PathPilot

In this video I should you how to use the thread milling conversational screen in Tormach's Path Pilot software. It's really easy, but there are just a few little things to figure out first.

I've always heard that you should cut right hand internal threads from the bottom up, so you are climb milling.

Single point thread mill "size" ranges are by thread per inch, not fastener size. For example, you can use a 20 TPI thread mill to create a 2.25 - 20 fastener if you like.

Generally, the other consideration is to use the largest tool possible consistent with the manufacturer's recommendations (thread form distortion due to helix angle interference). In the machine shop where I work, we may have many threadmills with a given pitch but different diameters. we also use multi-fluted threadmills to reduce the time required in the cut. That being said, I would likely use single flute threadmills in a hobby shop for their versatility.
