Just a reminder...Z is best to reference first. Might avoid a crash of things...Love the vids...especially the latest feed speed rpm calc quick tip!

Yes, you are correct! For the PCNC's and Slant-PRO you should always reference the Z first. The only exception is the RapidTurn, where the Z is actually X. For that, you would need to reference the X first. Thanks for your own Quick Tip!

That's what we like to hear! Hope this helps them on their way to learning CNC! Can you let us know where you teach at, and what your students are interested in?

That's an awesome UI! Did you do it with the Qt Framework and QML controls? Looks outstanding...can't wait to try it out.

Just a general question: In few years I am considering buying a CNC machine for my model train business. Though many things can change by then I have few general requirements that influence my choice. I am new to CNC machining and I expect a big learning curve to overcome yet consideration whether or not to commit will come down to next big question: Since model train parts I plan to make are for tiny scale trains (1:100 scale), the wheel will rarely exceed 8mm or 1/3" diameter. Because machines by Tormach the ones I saw are large ones I am wondering about capability to machine small parts as some chucks (maybe just because I used cheap tools in past) have limitation of 1mm being minimum stock they can hold. Thank you.

You may want to look into the work of Wes Bye. Wes uses a PCNC 440 for all his CNC work. We have a video of him at our open house from several years back (sorry the audio system stopped working so the audio is bad). kzbin.info/www/bejne/lYipeKFufa2gi5I

Can the machine be set up to run metric all the time?
@tormachinc
@tormachinc 6 жыл бұрын
You can change your PathPilot Control System to operate in metric by typing G21 in the MDI line. The system will stay in metric upon restart, but initially the display will show G20 (Imperial). Once you press reset, the system will display G21 again. Thanks for watching!

Hello AGTExotics, you can adjust the date and time by typing ADMIN TIME into the MDI line and pressing enter or by right clicking on the clock.

Yes you can! PathPilot is compatible with all Tormach CNC machines. We are now also featuring a PathPilot simulator called PathPilot HUB, that you can use to test g-code when you aren't at your PCNC 1100. www.tormach.com/pathpilot/
