I need to tell you. I have owned the Bernina 830 for several years now, bought it from EBay, no problems with it, but I have NOT had fun with this machine, never got the threading right till now. Under my bobbin area, it’s black and I didn’t know what I was looking for, not even in the book does it show this. Thank you, thank you thank you soooooo much. You have helped me immensely. I’ve wanted to take a hammer to it or throw it in the front yard I’ve been that frustrated. Don’t have a problem getting the thread in for embroidery, just regular sewing, but I have it now. Thanks ever so much again. 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🌹🌹🌹🌹

You have saved my 820! I almost dropped it off to my mechanic for repair because I lost bobbin tension. Turns out this has a precise way to thread. You are a saint. Thank you.

The BEST VIDEO I have watch regarding the proper Bobbin Threader for the Bernina B8xx series!!! I have had a B830 for two years now and was able to do proper sewing, but my Embroidery was erratic due to not having that bobbin thread in the correct place. To thread the Bobbin for embroider in the 730 and 640 is way more easier, but now, after watching this video several times, I am able to embroider PERFECTLY every time, specially my 15 x 10 multi-color designs!!!!! Thanks a lot!!!! But I wonder why threading B8xx Berninas is so complicated? I have two Brother Innovis Disney embroidery machines and I only have to top load the bobbin, follow the arrow, put the bobbin cover, and the machines are ready to go!!!! But thanks, now I have a very functional and working Big Hoop Machine for my big projects!!!

Thank you, this was a great video. I just couldn’t understand how. Appreciate you taking the time to do this! I’m new to Bernina 830, I just bought a used machine. Now I have to find a video on threading the automatic needle threader. 😊

I have a threading video called threading the BERNINA 8 series with monofilament thread. It should show you everything you need for regular thread also.

OMG, I think I really have it this time. After I saw this a couple weeks back, I could only get thread in that prong once, but today I have gotten it in there several times!!!! I’m thrilled to death! The key is pushing the thread back some, that’s what did it for me. Oh thank you thank you. I have hated this machine for a long time! I may have turned a corner. 😯

Shelly, thank you very much! I have been "afraid" of my 830 and not using it, but now that I have my first grandchild, I need to use it!! LOL! Your instructions were thorough and perfect and you answered every question I have (about threading and bobbin stuff). Now can you come to my house and help me figure out how to embroider??!! :-)

Thank you for the video, trying to decide on the 880 or 790. I have had many machines, never considered a Bernina. I think I have missed out on a great machine, this will be my last. I would love your feedback.your videos have really helped in my decision
@SewShelly7 жыл бұрын
Joannie, The 880 Plus and 790 Plus are both great machines. Spend some time with the machines at your dealership and get a feel for the size and threading. You will know what machine feels right for you. I am an 880 fan and here are some of the reasons just because you asked. I absolutely love my 880 bobbin because I really enjoy putting heavy threads on the bobbin and stitching right side down to create some awesome "bobbin play" stitches. I don't have to buy an extra bobbin case to do this as I can easily change the bobbin tension on the 880. I also love the extra room that the 12 inches to the right of the needle gives me. The 880 dual feed is adjustable as it has it's own motor. This means it can create some really great "skewed stitches" and also work like a differential feed to perfect to feeding of fabrics. On the embroidery side the 880 has a shaping tool that makes designing original and unique embroidery right at the machine an option. There are probably a few more things that make the 880 BERNINA's top of the line that I am not thinking of right now. Learning how to thread the 880 upper thread and bobbin is very important to how much you enjoy the machine so hopefully this video will help. Shelly

This is great. Your videos are way better than "helpful" so thank you. I wonder if other 880 owners are experiencing what I do... a sense that the bobbin is generally not tight enough. Not so much with regular stitching but with embroidery or free motion quilting I often have to reduce my needle tension a lot. Thanks to one of your videos I learned how to tighten the bobbin but it seems wrong that I have to do that.
@SewShelly6 жыл бұрын
There is nothing wrong with changing your bobbin tension if it makes your stitch correct. That being said, you have a red dot on the door of the bobbin that shows where your bobbin should be set so see if you have it lined up like the red dot.

Shelly, I’m having the worst time getting the thread where it’s supposed to be for sewing. I did it once, but have not been able to do it since no matter what I try. Any suggestions???? I am not having fun with this machine!!!!! Looking at video again. I did go in first slit, but it never went into that fork looking tension guide. I’ll try this again. Really feel like throwing this in the yard! For embroidery that thing looks like a paper clip. I don’t have a problem getting thread in that…..lol
@SewShelly Жыл бұрын
After you put the thread into the slit and pull to the left, pull on the thread until the actual bobbin rotates 2 or 3 full rotations. This will put the thread into the tension . Watch the video starting around 5.3 minutes again to see me threading.

Hello Merci beaucoup pour cette vidéo - on adore Bernina... Mais pour la série 8, au moment d'enfiler la machine on a la boule au ventre.
@judeenizzard27058 жыл бұрын
Very helpful for both newbies and refresher for us that have/had 830/880. I have a question. For Embroidery does the bobbin thread go into the brass fork then into the embroidery clip - as you showed at the end???
@SewShelly8 жыл бұрын
Judeen, You must do both in order to thread for embroidery. First thread for regular sewing and then add the threading for embroidery.
@judeenizzard27058 жыл бұрын
Thanks, I was not sure... embroidery has been ok so I must have done it without realizing it. Ok, so I hope your next video will be on Threading the Series 8 machines. There has been some confusion about the thread going in front or behind the metal tab on the top of the machine. I miss my 730 but I am enjoying my 880 over my 830. Just no classes in my area. Hope to see you in the spring.
@SewShelly8 жыл бұрын
Judeen, When using a single upper thread, It makes absolutely no difference on whether you put the thread in front or behind the metal tab. Shelly

When bobbin is threaded for Embroidery is that for FREE MOTION EMBROIDERY ?
@SewShelly5 жыл бұрын
You thread for embroidery anytime you need the upper thread pulled down to the back a bit. It could be when doing machine embroidery, free motion quilting or embroidery or for decorative stitches.
