I would call the police. I had a similar situation happen to me at a specialty show. Two people went ape crazy on me for filming their stuff. Illinois is also a one party state, but I politely said no worries and said I wouldn't film and then I walked away. Dude decided to follow me and yell at me. The venue director got involved and let's just say my video is awesome and one of the two vendors isn't welcome back to sell at the show. He's lucky I didn't lay him out for physically pushing me and putting his hands on me. The venue director didn't want the police involved or dude would have been in a really bad way with tens of thousands of dollars of merchandise he would have to leave while he rotted in jail. Great buys. There were a lot of items I would have bid on.

Sadly there are some nasty evil people in the world, the fact they worded the text as "Our Auctions" gives the impression that it was the people holding the sale who sent the threat? Just another faceless aggressor hiding behind the phone and it clearly upset your wife. I would teach the culprit a lesson and report it to the Police.
