Hey Don, I really appreciate that you're helping me catch up with a lot of stuff I missed back in the day (I was a pretty avid watcher of LNWDL but there were definitely gaps). As a side note, I bet if one could get a hold of one of those Late Night Stevie Nicks jackets & if signed by both David Letterman and Stevie Nicks - that would be worth a FORTUNE (on eBay or formal auction)!

Don, you're the best brother. I remember staying up from midnight to 1am to watch this shenanigans---and not regretting any part but the commercials---the real ones that is, not the ones Dave was ribbing. It probably seems sophomoric to many, but for me the joke never got old---and *STILL* doesn't.

I swear, I don't think Dave ever rehearsed with the guy. It just looked like Dave wanted to see what Chris would come up with and be surprised on air with it.

Don I've been desperately trying to figure out a brief moment from the show and if anyone would recognize it, it's you. Basically I walked into the room mid-show and Dave was telling Paul about an upcoming non-celebrity guest and asks him "Can you guess what she did?" And Paul replies "She drove a truck of pies..." to which the audience bursts out laughing and Dave starts giggling and saying "No no no" or something like that before moving on. Obviously I missed something prior to it on the show and it's always bugged me that I never knew the context. Felt like I was hearing half of a great joke. Such is the angst of modern man. To this day when someone asks me a question along those lines that I don't know the answer to I'll say "They drove a truck of pies...?" Any thoughts? Thanks for all you do.
@dongiller
@dongiller 4 жыл бұрын
No idea, sorry. It could have been Paul simply delivering a non-sequitur, which caught Dave so off-guard that he couldn’t help but laugh. That’s my first impression. I could certainly be wrong about that, though.

A little quick trip down memory lane… That reminds me of a time back I guess it was the 80s when the song was a hit, a local rock 'n roll station in LA decided to have "Jump Day!" This was a situation where they played the song, "Jump" by Van Halen many, many, many times throughout the day to where I think they would play either back to back or they'd interject one song and then play Jump again. And here's the funny thing: I was right there with it! I remember even jumping in the living room playing it through the speakers after hearing it the 10th time. It truly is one of the greatest rock 'n roll songs of all time and one of those rare tunes that indeed, never gets old!

Another "coincidence" just occurred. EXACTLY when Paul said and really emphasized the word FORM while saying "It's a FORM", I was reading the word "form" in the definition of the term "green strength" in a different browser.

Thanks, Don. I enjoy Chris Elliot's work with Dave. When you get a chance, could you please provide a link to Elvis Week?
@dongiller
@dongiller 4 жыл бұрын
There is no link. Elvis Week was a week of repeats starting on Monday, August 15, 1988. The shows repeated were: July 24, 1986; May 20, 1987; January 8, 1986; February 11, 1988; and October 9, 1987. The only new material were the taped intros to each show.

Ah, Late Show. Sorry, I misunderstood. Yes, the week of February 4, 2013: Cody Ray Slaughter, Brandon Bennet, Justin Shandor, Shawn Kluth, and Ben Portsmouth. I’m hesitant preparing a compilation; the songs may be blocked, or worse, taken down. I don’t want to risk that while I still have one copyright strike that’s due to expire in two months.
