As soon as I heard "extreme brush hogging" I knew I was on the right track. You were exactly right- it was not obvious that a hose had been pulled out of the proper seating in the coupler underneath the tractor. Thank you!

Hey Mike, thanks for the tip. I have a new 40hp MF and have 30 hours on it. Yesterday, the front end loader would not tip forward or pull back. I researched your info. I had been bush hogging in high material. You suggested a hose had come loose. You were spot on. Reconnected and works great. Thank you my friend. 👍😃

Mike I could hug you like the service manager story. My 3 point hitch was going up and down very slowly. I let a fence installer borrow for the use of the bucket and then it would not go down at all. I you tubed your sight, as I had seen some of your vids before, and Eureka the knob was on lock. Wow what a relief. Many many thanks

Mike: you really helped me today . yesterday I was clearing a tree line and my loader stopped moving . There was no hydraulic geysers or puddles and I checked the quick disconnect but I didn't inspect it closely. Your video made the point that a loose fitting can be hard to spot , sure enough you were right , that was the problem. You were also right that the lower hose is a PITA to get reconnected There is place set for you in heaven brotherman , Thanks so much, I need that machine and I have it back, you saved me a lot of time. Take care and keep making videos, great work.

Hydraulics failed with heavy work. Thought it was a 1000.00 repair. Had to leave my Kubota in the field since the bucket was flat with the ground. Watched this video and thought it was worth a closer look. To my intense relief, it was an un coupled line. Fixed it just like tractor Mike said. Thank you sir. Sincerely, thank you. Your a great human.

Thanks Tractor Mike! I buy and sell used tractors under 40 horsepower as a hobby. I picked up a Ford 1900 tractor (around 30 hp) and didn't look at it too closely until about 3 weeks after I bought it. I paid just $5,000 because the seller had jus tpurchesed it and couldn't get the 3- point hitch to work. The seller was right... it didn't work! I checked for answers on KZbin and your "Three Common Tractor Problems" video showed up. I watched it at 1:00 am in the morning and immediately went to the shop. You were right! The knob you talked about was turned off completely. I started the tractor and turned the knob open and the 3-point hitch works just fine! Thanks again!

Mike... God bless you, sir. Six years ago I parked my old International Harvester 244. I thought it was totaled. I had changed all the fluids and plugs... but the 3-point didn't work. My finish mower would drop down and wouldn't raise. So, discouraged, I parked it and let it sit for years... Time went by. Children were born. Time passed... and then today I got a wild hair and decided to revisit the old machine... She needed a new battery. And some fresh fluids. But she fires up strong! 💪 AND NOW THANKS TO YOU THE 3-POINT WORKS!!! 😆🤘 It lives on!! Thank you for helping my uncle's legacy... it was his tractor. Now it will work the land again. He's smiling down at us in heaven. 🙏 *SUBSCRIBED*

You just saved me hours! I just picked up an old Yanmar 2210D and the manual isn't too clear on 3-point hitch troubleshooting. It was stuck in the up position. Someone really cranked that control knob tight. All it took was a little movement toward the open position and it was working again! You have a new subscriber.

We have had that PTO coupler give us trouble several times because the little ball bearings inside were either rusty or had dirt in them and would not move. We keep everything well lubed but this one happens because the end of the PTO shaft was left hanging in the dirt when it was not on the tractor. We now use a couple large wire tie straps to hold the shaft up to the top of the three point hitch when it is not attached to the tractor.

I ran into a 3 point hitch not going up or down on my tractor a while back. This is probably specific to my brand of tractor (John Deere). When I first bought the tractor it came configured with a loader/bucket on the front and a backhoe on the back. To run the backhoe it uses a system called "power beyond" where the hydraulics hook up with a supply and return from the tractor to the attachment. When the backhoe (or any other attachment that uses the "power beyond") is removed the supply and return hoses on the tractor need to be connected together. If not, the three point hitch will not function. I luckily figured it out before an embarrassing trip to my local dealer.

Mike, great channel. I've learned so much about my tractor by watching your channel. Being a newbie to tractor ownership your advice has been a life saver. That said, I'm having an issue with my MF 1533. I tractor will not pull in 1,2, or 3. It will only pull forward in 4 low (turtle). I'm trying to figure out to how to determine if I need a new clutch or if this is something I can adjust on the tractor. I don't want to take to the dealership and pay $2k if it's a relatively easy fix. I'm looking for to hearing from you.

Great video. I especially relate the the section regarding the PTO shaft. My brother and his son struggled for an hour messing with their new tractor and 3 pt. tiller. The farmer who farms our fields happened by and my brother sucked up his pride and asked for help. Farmer Dan picked up the shaft and mounted it to the tractor PTO Shaft. My brother couldn’t see what the farmer had done and for a minute he wasn’t going to share his “secret.” After making fun of my brother for a bit, Farmer Dan clued him in. Priceless.

Best self help video. Question on three point won’t move issue. Have a HESSTON 80-66. Haven’t ran it for three years starts up,and ran fine. But lift won’t work Yes the knob was screwed all the way in. I opened it and still won’t move. I also had to put 2 gallons of hydraulic oil in. Could the hydraulic valve be frozen from sitting three years. The knob does open and close. Thank you. Cape Girardeau Mo.

My dad had a tractor that the hydraulics never worked right. About an hour to go up and a day to go down. Took it to the dealership 3-4 times to be worked on. He was told nothing was wrong with the hydraulics. When I inherited it, I found a little handle under the side of the seat. After I turned it, they started working. I also found a loose bolt in the hydraulic system. They work good now! He fought with it for 20 years and it was just the valve you mentioned.

Reminds me of the story about the guy who traded in a 150 hp tractor because it wouldn't turn tightly. Took him 40 acres to turn around. The dealer got it in and found that no one had ever adjusted the axle stops. 5 minutes with two wrenches fixed it.

Those are problems which can be difficult for some people and the toughest one for me is connecting the shaft to the PTO on both of my tractors and I have John Deere brand (790 and 3032E) and I just have a problem getting in there where I can hold the shaft with one hand and use my other hand to connect the shaft to my PTO. The other areas are no problem on my tractors. That is why I don't remove my brush hog from my 790 tractor and just use the other tractor for working with my other implements.
