I think perpetual may have been a bit over hyped by authors. She was taken out relatively quickly by the first high tier being to go against her. Either she was way weaker than we would've thought or Dr.Manhattan has been severely underestimated for the past decade or so. I think Dr.Manhattan is just broken as all hell.

Perpetua isn't at her full power at all though. She's been regaining her power but she's nothing compared to what she was before. Before she used to be second only to the presence/the source.

I'm really glad it's wonder woman that is the lead for this entire crisis. Everytime it's always been either Batman or Superman who has held the spotlight. But I can tell at the end of this, we're probably going to have the strongest version of Diana we've ever seen. Batman taking off the ring wouldn’t work. A dead Batman wouldn’t suddenly erase all the other knightmare Batman. They already exist and one of them is just way too powerful. The source could definitely contain tbwl if it wanted to, but that would be an easy fix. This isn’t marvel legacy this is something better.

Problem with taking the ring off is that at that point Batman is is no longer able to animate his body and is now dead and useless ..... it's like a prize fighter being knocked out ( unconscious type of knockout, not the TKO type) during a fight ... can't do much after that .... so no, that would not be a good idea.
