I think they're sort of "desired aspects" of the writers. I think perpetua represented the "desire" to keep everything static and unchanged. ie. stick with the same reliable stories Of course the actual writers don't support this, as the story is she basically destroys the multiverse, but sustains herself on a steady diet of constant crisis stories. I also this the BMWL sort of represents certain fan desires. Similar to how superboy prime represented toxic fans, I think the BMWL in this story represented fans who only cared about batman and darker storylines. This whole thing seems like one big meta commentary on the DC ecosystem. Or maybe I'm overthinking it lol

This is a way better reboot for a multiverse then what Marvel did with Secret Wars... Okay ..... how does this jibe with what happened between laughing boy and Superboy-Prime? They are not just telling this from different perspectives, the4y are telling different stories. The implication is that there are multiple versions of Laughing boy and that some of them were defeated by different characters. That also implies t hat not all of them are gone and Joker/Batman will be back ....with cosmic level powers and without ...and this will never truely end .... because who doesn't love to milk a cash cow?
