In Latin America (at least in Chile) it is quite common to have to pay to enter a public bathroom, sometimes they give discounts (or it is free) by presenting a receipt that shows that you consumed something in the food court, but I have not seen it lately 😢

I had never heard of Miffy, in Italy it is totally unknown, it's interesting. In my country you have to pay for public toilets but not those in supermarkets and shopping centres, and in bars and restaurants you usually just need to consume something to have free access to the toilet.
