Danny, Chuck and Corey one of my favorite bands from late 60s to mid 70s. The name came from Australia. On cold nights they would sleep with their dogs to stay warm. A 3 dog night was a freezing night. 🤔🤗😎

Another song from "Hair" that was incredible, was a tune called "Aquarius/Let the Sunshine In". The 5th Dimension made a big hit out of it. Check out the movie "Hair". It's considered one of the best musical films of all-time.

The singer is Chuck Negron. Saw him sing this live in West Palm Beach, Fla back in 1974. Three Dog Night was a really good band and they put on a great show.

i loved this song whe. i was just a lil snapper head back when this 1st came out. i can remember being so small in the back seat of the car not being able to see out the side window without standing up. this song made me listen to the lyrics and taught me what music is. it made me so sad because i knew the guy singing the song was hurting bc of bad people being mean. music is my world and everything to me.

Hey, lil sister. My mom bought that album when I was 10. It's a classic song basically posing the lovers versus the haters in this world. The civil Rights act was still new in many people were not happy about it. In a lot of ways it was like dealing with MAGA today.

Love this song. "Joy To The World" and "Mama Told Me" are fine, but the songs that didn't make it to #1 are better. "Eli", "One", "Pieces Of April", "Family Of Mine", "Til The World Ends"....so many classic songs.

I'm glad you like the song! Lead singer, Chuck Negron has a great voice as do the other singers, Cory Wells and Timothy Hutton. The end of the song really echoes the feelings and passion of the song's theme! The song was released by Three Dog Night in 1969.It was also in the musical "Hair." (One year earlier). The song came out at a time when the Vietnam was still going on and so many young people (and some older folks too) were against it, protests against the war, riots, violence on campuses, social injustice, the struggles in the early years after Civil Rights laws were enacted. Also, the song is about we all need a friend...and too many of us find it too easy to be "cold"....find it so easy to say "no." and are so "heartless." The song also seems to be a little about an intimate relationship (in the 2nd verse)...admitting he's hung up on someone who's struggling to show him love and understanding. Also, in the chorus he mentions...do you only care about the "bleeding crowd"....which seems to mean a person might care about the suffering overseas, but won't help their needy Nextdoor neighbor. This song, SO packed with heavy lyrical content, reflecting that tumultuous era. Three Dog Night has many great, meaningful songs including: Joy to the World, One, Just an Old Fashioned Love Song, Out In The Country, Mama Told me not to come, Eli's Coming...to name a few. Sadly, we're facing some of the same issues today which makes this song very relevant, more than 50 years later! "Easy to be Hard"....so true.

Three Dog Night had more top 40 singles between 1969 and 1975 than Elvis and the Beatles. Including 11 top 20, 18 consecutive top 40, and 3 number 1's. The vocalist in this song was Chuck Negron. He has an incredible book out entitled "Three Dog Nightmare". He talks about his terrible heroin addiction, how many rehabs he's gone to, and just how fortunate he is to be alive. He tells how he'd be on tour with the band and would run out of drugs. So he'd charter a private plane, fly halfway around the world to Los Angeles just to meet his dealer so he could get high again. Then fly all the way back to meet the band and continue the tour. Sometimes he'd spend up to $30,000 a day just to get this done. He said that it eventually got so bad, that he lost everything! He went from being a multi-millionaire to flat broke and sleeping on a filthy mattress in an alley on skid row in Los Angeles sharing dirty needles with several other junkies. And yet he never contracted AIDS or hepatitis. He lost his wife an kids due to this. He said he got high because he actually loved getting high. But after all the rehabs had failed, he went to one last one. Chuck said he didn't go there to get clean, he went because he had no place to go. No money, no food to eat, no bed and no roof over his head. The place was called CRI Help! And by the grace of God, this was the place, and those were the folks that finally helped him help himself! Just a great great book!!!

It's been a while since I've seen "Hair" but that Broadway show and recorded musical is where the original version comes from If I remember right, a woman and child found the father in NYC and she wanted him back, but he was very resistant. "You know I'm hung up on you," she sang. She couldn't understand how he could care so much about social and political issues while ignoring/denying his own family.
