In this tutorial I'm showing you how to doodle 3-dimensional forms with simple linework. These are forms that I personally use in many of my ink drawings and in my doodles, and I'm sharing them with you so you can add more depth to your ink drawings. Thank you for joining me, and happy drawing!

The biggest mistake I made with drawing and painting was thinking it would look as good as someone elses, if anyone watches this and gives it a try for the first time just remember you are just starting and dont be too hard on yourself. This was fantastic to listen to while preparing to cast some stones to paint on, cant wait to watch it when I'm finished as i guarantee it will give me ideas to add to my creativity in painting and drawing 🙏💖

You're absolutely right. I also compare my drawings to those of my favorite artists and I wonder why my work doesn't look nearly as good. I'm glad you enjoyed listening 💙

Greetings Betsi 👋🏻. I just found you on KZbin and wanted to express my gratitude for all your wonderful teaching. You are extremely gifted in explaining and your voice (which can be a definite deal breaker for me), is sooo pleasant and easy to listen to. Thank you for giving your gift so freely. May God bless you with creativity flowing freely and supernaturally more than you ever hope, dreamed or imagined! ✨🙏🏻👏🏻

Thanks! The truth is that for me, there is a reason for most things I do in my art. Even when I experiment, it's all based on a kind of scientific method and my hope is that by sharing with you all those little reasons you may be able to understand the process better.

I completely agree. Some things seem ridiculously easy to some, but difficult to someone else. Its up to the artist to decide if the simple lines will just be a quick exercise of if they will become more.

@@betsi_jae NOT BORING!!! Love it because you explain your thinking on what you are doing. I would love to know more about how you decide on the over all composition of a picture. Do you often have the items placed in your mind ahead of time or do you always just let create itself. Thats what I struggle with...knowing when to switch from one doodle style to the next without it looking too strange. ( might be something to discuss in a future video? I am sure I am not the only one curious about it. )

Your artistry is so beautiful. I had one question - what brand and size microliner pen are you using? I've been using a .01 but the ink flow doesn't look like yours and seems scratchy. Thanks. You're a great teacher. Thank you

These pens are 0.5mm. I Believe there's a link to the pens in the description, but I'll check to make sure it's there. I have the same problem with pens that are too tiny. That's why I like to use the 0.5 pens.

My "backwards and forwards" end up looking like bandaging. My lines aren't evenly apart from eachother.. this type of doodling is my "drill". I'm getting better each time... it's very challenging

Im so glad I found your page! I'm really enjoying trying out these different shapes. Question: how do you keep/save these smaller pieces in an organized way?
@betsi_jae
@betsi_jae Жыл бұрын
Good question. when I don’t draw directly into my journal I make sure to glue my loose drawings into the journal. A neat method might be to make baseball card-sized samples of your patterns and then add them into a card organizer and keep them in a binder. I personally prefer having things in my journal though.

I like the way how you embrace your random thoughts and make the outcome so beautiful ❤❤. Have a question, for shading can we use any normal pencil ? And also what is it you use for blending after shading with pencil
@betsi_jae
@betsi_jae Жыл бұрын
Thank you 😊. Yes, you can use any pencil you’re comfortable with. Sometime I use a 6b pencil, but often I just use a 2HB , which is just a typical school pencil.

Thank you ! As far as the pencils, how you use them will come down to your personal taste. You’ll likely have some pencils with and H and some with a B. Those marked with the H have harder graphite, which makes softer lines. The ones marked with a B are softer, which deposits more graphite (making darker lines). I personally like the soft pencils, like 4B, 5B, 6B for the shading in my ink doodles. For the blending stumps, you can use the skinny ones when you are shading in tiny spaces and use the fatter stumps when working in larger areas.
