Maybe you couild one day make a video about your best and worst pruning decisions?

That monk statue looks so real that you almost expect to see it move. I know this won't make you feel better about crossing roots but I've seen pictures of large ficus trees with crossing surface roots that look really good. 😊I appreciate your efforts for getting the perfect root structure and I envy both your perseverance and results. 👍

I have watched your technique enough that now I have fun predicting what cuts you will make. Sort of like a game

Looking good Nigel. That Monk looks so lifelike . You hit the mark every time with pot choice. Wish I could. Cheers.

Looks good. I have a ficus microcarpa that was sitting in a raised bed and the roots grew through the drainage into the raised bed and the roots that were in the pot seemed to have stopped growing. Seems like a response to finding better resources outside the pot and putting more energy into taking up those resources

Do you treat your tropicals for bugs before bringing them into the plant room? I’d imagine once they’re crammed in there it becomes more difficult to both detect and treat for any little nasties. Keep growing. Thanks

so much work pruning every tree but you forgot to shave the little monk! outrageous

It's funny that little cutting looks like the child of the big tree, so it's perfect to call it the parent tree!

Hello Nigel! Is it possible to take a growing tree from your local forest and use it to make a bonsai? I imagine it would shorten the time it takes and it will be in the right climate/conditions.

Is it okay to prune the roots without defoliate the leaves at all?

Came to watch the full video since I caught the last few minutes of the live show…… I feel we where cheated Nigel, we never got to see where the little side shut came from, you edited the part out🤣 boy does that little cutie look good in her own little pot😍

Hey Nigel, I love your KZbin channel. I have a question. When you make a big root pruning Is there a possibility, that the root cuttings can grow again? I have a typical Ikea Ficus bonsai, that i have made shorter (air layering). I will try to regrow these rootcuttings. Best wishes from Denmark.

Hi Nigel it looks awesome. Was wondering what's the soil mix? Thanks in advance
@philippvoss45233 жыл бұрын
@Foxy it's ~50% pumice and 50% safety sorb, with the fine components filtered out. He mentions it in some videos. Sometimes Nigel adds ~10% pine bark, but not in this soil mix. I think he just adds it if he has some around.

Is there a bad time to report a ficus? Seems like you can replant them when ever.
